And Dean is spot on, it’s my right to buy however much gas I want, so long as I’m willing to pay the price that is dictated by the market. And Hugh, you should head off to cuba or north korea, see how communism works for you. Because the US is a FREE MARKET. That is, you can have anything you want if you’re willing to pay the price. Social responsibility is a non issue. Environmentalists need to get over themselves, I’m sure you can find bigger fish to fry. I believe global warming is a natural thing, and noone has the data to prove otherwise. So keep blabbing, and I’ll keep supporting people’s right to buy however much gas they want, and use it however they see fit.

I’m polluting SIGNIFICANTLY less than many around the world who drive emissions-failing junk. Add to that countless other sources such as old lawnmowers, blah, blah, blah. And here in Canada, I’m paying more than everyone in the US because of taxes.

You want to talk about social responsibility? Then mention your view(s) on how my taxes are spent to pay for some of the lazy, good-for-nothings on welfare. And MANY other misspent directives.

Free market. Anyone can drive what they want, when they want. And can apportion any part of their disposable income as they wish.

If people want to buy a guzzler and pay for it at market prices, it’s their right. If the prices are double in Britain what they are in the US, and there still exists a high number of guzzlers, then you should consider becoming Hitler and unilaterally deciding what is the appropriate gas price for any/all countries, to remedy this illness.

If you advocate raising the price of gas to the point where people are adversely constrained in their movements then the economy tanks. When the economy tanks you tank. Gas prices will rise anyway. The question and concern of most people is how fast they rise.
