Cadillac’s CTS-V Coupe is already a highly respected, high-performance car – but for John Hennessey it was nothing more than a mere starting point for his latest creation: the 2012 Hennessey Twin Turbo V1000 CTS-V Coupe.

This beastly two-door will, as its name suggests, come packing an enormous 1,000 horsepower at 6,400 rpm, with an earth-moving 950 lb-ft of torque at 4,000 rpm to go along with it. This supercar edition CTS-V will only be made in extremely limited examples – 12 to be exact.

All of that power is said to scoot this coupe from a dead stop to 60 miles per hour in just 3.5 seconds, finishing a quarter mile in 10.6 seconds at 136 mph and then continuing on to a top speed of 230 mph. All of this comes from a 427 cid LS V8 engine, force fed with a pair of twin ball-bearing turbochargers with dual wastegates, an electronic boost controller and an air-to-air intercooler.

To make sure the engine was up for the task it now features forged low compression pistons and steel connecting rods, a Callies 4340 forged steel crank, high-flow cylinder heads, Hennessey V1000 camshaft, upgraded fuel system including lines, rails, pump and injectors, new thermostat, new stainless steel exhaust and of course all-new engine mapping.

Of course that much power would instantly shred a standard CTS-V transmission, so any manual-equipped cars will receive a centerforce dual friction clutch upgrade, while automatics will receive a performance build and torque convertor upgrade.

Bringing this hot coupe to a halt will be handled by 15.1-inch carbon ceramic rotors front and rear with eight-piston calipers in the front and six-pot calipers in the back – compliments of Brembo.

Wheels arrive in the form of Hennessey monoblock wheels measuring 20X10 in the front and 20X13 in the rear, wrapped in Michelon Pilot Super Sport tires, 275/30YR20 and 345/30YR/20.

Cosmetics and aerodynamics will also be addressed through a CarbonAero CTS-V widebody upgrade, a carbon fiber front splitter, rear diffuser, front fenders, extractor hood and rear fender flares. Inside, an Alcantara headliner, carbon fiber door sills, upgraded leather, Hennessey embroidered headrests and premium floormats will round out the changes.

Hennessey isn’t announcing pricing just yet, but don’t expect to get one of just 12 of these for anything less than supercar pricing. Also, rest assured that you will be given proper training to handle the power as the car comes with a one-day track training event with John Heinricy.

Oh, and one last minor detail – the car is not 50-state road legal and power figures and times were measured on 93-octane fuel and a six-speed manual transmission.
