Very vague. Too vague. It's like me saying I once saw a guy walk down the street, and using that as evidence in a murder trial.

Probably not, but not so much because of safety or quality issues. Mainly because most of Toyota's vehicle designs (and some lexus models too) look like complete turds. Case and point: 2010 Toyota Land Cruiser

And they only have one laptop to connect to the secret black boxes in all Toyota vehicles?? And only a Beta software?. They (Mr Toyoda) refuse to give the feds the codes to read them.....hmmmm...... there is more here hiding behind the red Toyota smoke screen. Give this a month and see where it goes. Would you let your family drive a new Camry?

imo this letter is just a coincidence...unless toyota is hiring temporary workers to design their throttle systems, which i doubt, this memo applies to assembly workers...unrelated issue...

as for BuyUSA, first of all you're going to need another screen name if you're going to argue the toyota conspiracy thing, because according to your name you should be for any program (legitimate or otherwise) that promotes the buying of USA-made products, right? ;) second, like cocojoe - who has expressed the same views - i think you're both way off base on the conspiracy thing...

BuyUSA: you are an idiot

now, in toyota's defense(and that wont happen often from me) this letter seems a bit vague and therefore completely useless(much like my comment about BuyUSA). They dont identify any of their concerns other than the temp workers, and that could easily be attributed to job security concerns. I don't think that this letter means much other than to reinforce what we already knew.

@ ajm11 - I suspected as much, from the former Toyota lawyer's statements.

@JakeK66 - I was never abducted by aliens. Not to my knowledge, anyway.

@savedsol - The "Big Three" certainly had their share of problematic vehicles in the 70's, 80's and 90's.

@RKelly14626 - Makes you wonder how many runaway Fords, Chevys, Dodges, Hondas, Nissans, Mitsubishis, Toyotas, Plymouths, Edsels, Hudsons, Studebakers, Desotos, etc. there were before this current crisis?

BuyUSA- Ford uses a different technology for hybrids than Toyota. They did that for the 1st gen Hybrid escape and then designed their own- which is why they aren't running away like other prius'... wait- but if that IS the same technology in the first Escape Hybrids... then... oh god- oh god! Sorry- my sisters Escape just had sudden acceleration for a second there. Phew! Thank god she got rid of those pesky floormats

The dumbest part of all this is had they just continued doing what they were doing in the '80s and '90s they probably would have wound up being number one eventually. For decades no one expected much better than msrp when they bought a new Toyota and it showed in their resale values. I suppose in some way it's good to see the 'honorable' Japanese are capable of being just as short-sighted as their American counterparts.

BuyUSA - This has been happening for a long time. Long before Toyota took over top spot in the car business, and far before GM and Chrysler had to declare bankruptcy. This is happening due to the Japanese culture for Business. They care much more about saving face than admitting that they made a mistake.

As much as I dislike Toyota, does anybody else here think this is a Government conspiracy to shut down Toyota in order to Promote new "Green" cars from General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler on Global platforms in order to usher in the New World Order with our own "American" car companies?

Toyota needs to find and fix the sudden accleration problem soon. Only then will they stay out of the news. Tomorrow it will be some other issue with Toyota, as it seems to be everyday.

For all you diehard Toyota fans, please get help. Maybe one day Toyota will be respected again.
