Ford designer: No more European styling

Ford's new design language marks an abandoning of its attempt at imitating European designs, according to Automotive News. Instead, the U.S. automaker is focusing on a unique, more muscular design direction inspired by the Mustang. Ford describes the its newest designs -- which include the Fusion, Edge, and Reflex -- as "bold" and "American." Ford Motor's executive director of North American says the new designs borrow from "the clean look of Ford cars" from the 1960s. He said the company no longer wishes to imitate European designs as it did with the Ford 500. "A Ford is a Ford and an Audi is an Audi," he says. "Germans just do German cars better than we can."
