Porsche denies plans to build Cayman RS

Porsche officials told Dutch auto magazine Auto Telegraaf that they have no plans to build a high-performance Cayman model above the Cayman S coupe. It's "technically possible," the source said. "[But] that is not our strategy." Porsche said it positioned the Cayman between the Boxster and 911 -- and it intends to leave it there. The Cayman line will gain new models, but they will be positioned below the Cayman S. Many Porsche fans have suggested the company should offer more powerful engines in the Cayman. While the 911 has a great deal of heritage and fans, many enthusiasts feel the Boxster/Cayman platform is actually superior. It's unclear if or when Porsche plans to introduce an up-market mid-engined coupe, but apparently that car won't be the Cayman.
