Coming to a rap video near you: 30-inch rims

Forget dubs. Pirelli just announced the world's first production 30-inch tire, opening the door to mass-market 30-inch rims. While other tire manufacturers may have shown "one-off" 30-inch tire projects, Pirelli's 315/30R30 Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico is described as an SUV tire and is headed for full production. "The 30-inch Scorpion Zero is not about selling huge volumes; it's more about satisfying a highly visible niche opportunity and making a statement in the market place," a company spokesperson said. "Our past initiatives in this product area have driven huge interest in plus-sizing on light trucks, to a point where 22-inch tires can almost be considered the norm." TIS Wheels ("Twenty Inches Strong") used the press conference to introduce the a thirty-inch wheel called Thirty Inches Strong. The company confirmed that the first set valued at $150,000 in development costs, had been sold to MTV Celebrity Bam Margera for his Hummer. (Actual rims not pictured).
