Tuning kit turns old Boxster to new

Swiss tuner Z-Art has put together an upgrade kit for the 1997-2004 Porsche Boxster to make it look like the 2005+ model. Similar to Hamann’s 996 to 997 kit for the 911, this 986 to 987 kit includes front bumper, side skirts, rear spoiler attachment, and a rear bumper. Most notably, however, it also includes a new headlamp cluster designed to look like the new Boxster. The whole kit costs over $5,500 with installation. Gallery after the jump…

hi

I’m afraid that the only good looking thing here is the Swiss number plate. the body plastics look like taken from some toyota supra (think fast & furious), and I simply refrain from commenting the rims…

not all Swiss Porsche tuners are crap though, if you look at the Rinspeed zaZen. however that’s stretching the notion of “tuning” a bit far… :)

Looks better than the original definately…except for the tail lights, agreed.

But, if the point of the kit is to make it look like the new model …ummm… sounds awfully cheap to me.

And, is there any real benefit from the upgrade other than trying to make ppl think you have the next-gen boxter? Are there any improvements to performance? …

I don’t think the word “tuning” means what you think it means……

Just lease the thing. Then periodic upgrades are automatic.
