Ghosn doesn't want to be GM CEO; alliance not a merger (video)

In an interview with CNBC today, Renault-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn said the partnership between Renault and Nissan -- and potentially General Motors -- is not a merger like that between Daimler-Benz and Chrysler, but instead a collaboration. He also said he does not want to take Rick Wagoner's job as CEO of General Motors. Ghosn said his prior talks with Ford were not about a potential alliance, but rather the automaker's interest in having him step into a leadership role separate from Renault and Nissan. He further said there is not a necesseity for a third partner in the Renault-Nissan alliance, and the idea came from GM investor Kirk Kerkorian. He also pointed out that the alliance can't save a company from its problems, and that must be taken care of by that automaker's management. Regarding any alliance with GM, he said he does not expect to see any major job losses in the U.S. as a result of the deal. Full video after the jump...
