Spied: 2007/2008 Audi R8

The new Audi R8 -- due for its official unveiling no later than the Paris Motor Show in September -- was caught by spy photographer Ewans T this week in testing. Prototypes of the vehicle -- based on the Audi Le Mans concept -- have been spotted before, but the latest round of test cars feature less disguise than ever before. The R8 is expected to have the same 425 horsepower V8 engine as the Audi RS4, but weight just 3200 lbs, compared to the RS4's 4000 lbs. Those figures should be good for a 0-60 mph time in the low-4.0 second range. It is based on the Lamborghini Gallardo platform. The car will likely be priced against the BMW M6, Aston Martin Vantage, and Porsche 911. Two images after the jump...
