Chrysler could turn to Chinese for Hornet partner

For nearly a year, Chrysler has been rumored to be seeking a partner to build a $10,000 compact Dodge for the U.S. and other markets. In February, the automaker unveiled the Dodge Hornet Concept -- believed to be the basis for the new b-segment vehicle. Chrysler's most serious talks have been with Volkswagen, which could offer the Jetta or Polo architecture for the car. However, Germany's Automobilwoche is now reporting that Chrysler is looking to other potential partners to make the low-cost car a reality. A new frontrunner could be China's Chery Automobile, which specializes in compact cars. While no final decision has been made, it's clear Chrysler is serious about making the Hornet as inexpensive as possible.
