British firm Javan Sports Cars has created a new sports car called the R1 -- capable of hitting 62 mph in 3.6 seconds, and 100 in 9.8. Weighing just 1,430 pounds, the car is powered by a 2.0-litre 4 cylinder i-VTEC DOHC engine developing 220bhp at 8600 rpm. A six speed gearbox provides a wide selection of gear choices all the way up to the top speed of 155 mph. The standing quarter mile takes just 12.2 seconds, Javan says. The total "on the road" price will be Ã'£30,139 in the U.K. A left-hand-drive version for the United States is also planned. A U.S. importer has already been appointed, and more details will follow in the near future. Gallery after the jump...
