Kia

2007 Kia Cee’d

Kia today released the first images of the production Kia Cee’d hatchback, which was first shown in concept form at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. “Our new C-segment model marks a major turning point in Ki’’s history and is named cee’d for several reasons,” explained Jean-Charles Lievens, Senior Vice President of Kia Motors Europe. “cee’d is a short, dynamic and innovative name. It’s unconventional, a name which breaks the automotive rules. A surprising name for a car destined to surprise our rivals and delight our customers. I’m sure the name will get people talking about Kia and also be easy to remember.” The car will go on sale in Europe in December. Gallery after the jump…

“The ‘CE’ symbolizes that this model is made in the European Community and the ‘ED’ indicates this car is a European Design created especially with European consumers in mind. ‘cee’d’ represents the ’seed’ for abundant growth in Kia sales that the new model will undoubtedly ensure. Finally, we wanted to introduce a fresh name in line with Kia’s brand attributes — quality, trustworthy and dynamic,” added Lievens.

Kia will probobly always remain the same crapy car it is… i mean unless they make a REAL change in their work, it will remain the same in people mind… “Oh it’s a Kia…” very boring!

I’ve never liked Kia’s, I just don’t totally like… the quality of it and people have their minds set and think Kia is an awful, low quality brand. But this one isn’t that bad. Nice interior I especially love the dash. The outside is very bland and boring though, and so is the interior.

This car could have been a Subaru because it is obviously inspired by the Legacy wagon. Should have been the Impreza hatch LoL!

that C piller is straight off of the Mazda3. its acutally not a bad car..i mean since the current car is the Rio this is like 5 steps up. i think it will compete well with the Yaris/Fit/Versa/xA. I actaully think its not a bad looking car,. boring but nothing a set of wheels couldnt change

this car is for C-segment to compete with all the heavy hitters like Golf, Mazda 3, Corolla, Astra…etc. Yaris/Fit/Versa/xA are smaller cars. - just making things clear.

Kia does decent wor making inexpensive cars, and good for them, there is definately a large market out there for them.

However, do they need to style this just like the Mazda 3?

I totally agree with the previous Mazda 3 Sport comment. As a current 3 Sport owner i can definately see the striking resemblance. The belt-line is almost exactly the same! I do like it. I think it will do well if they price it a few grand less than a 3 or caliber. Kia still has a long way to go, but this could be the beginning of a New Kia, the way Hyundai developed over recent years. Good job!

Some of you people degrade yourselves to such stupid comments… “Yo mamma” for gosh sakes what three year olds… Leftlanenews needs to do something about peoples stupid comments this is supposed to be about cars not degrading three year old comebacks.

I for one like it. I agree it slightly resembles certain parts of other cars, but it’s not a complete copy or anything. The interior looks small, but it looks fairly good.
