Report: Audi planning R8 roadster for 2008

Audi will offer a roadster version of its forthcoming R8 supercar in 2008, according to Germany's Stimme.de. While no specific details were given, the report doesn't come as a surprise, considering the R8 rides on the Lamborghini Gallardo platform. Sister company Lamborghini began offering the Gallardo Spyder this year after much demand from enthusiasts. Audi is expected to unveil the 2007 R8 coupe late this summer at the Paris Motor Show. The coupe will be priced against the BMW M6, Aston Martin Vantage, and Porsche 911. The R8's exterior is derived directly from the 2003 Le Mans Quattro concept (pictured).
