Lexus SC Pebble Beach Edition

In celebration of its partnership with the Pebble Beach Company, Lexus will introduce the fourth annual Lexus SC Pebble Beach Edition retractable hardtop convertible at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance Lexus Fashion Preview on August 18th. The 2007 SC Pebble Beach Edition features a cream pearlescent exterior paint called Starfire Pearl, with a Pimento Red leather interior and black birds-eye maple wood trim. With only 400 slated for production, this new Pebble Beach Edition SC will be in limited supply. The hardtop convertible also features aggressive 18-inch G-Spider alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, and either run-flat summer or run-flat all-season tires. The 2007 Lexus SC Pebble Beach Edition will be available for purchase in September 2006.

i like lexus, but this SC is in dire need of change. and those rims are available on any lexus, not just this special edition. so its not so special..

Actually the SC430 and the Solara have absolutely no components that are shared - the platform for the Solara is from the Camry, and the Sc430’s is from the Lexus LS430, same with the engine(s) - the Solara has 2 choices, both from the Camry, while the engine in the SC430 is the same 4.3 V8 from other Lexus / Toyota offerings, eg the LS430, the GS430; the block is the same as in the LX470 SUV and Land Cruiser as well, only bored out from 4.3 Litres to 4.7 in those applications.
Additionally, whereas the SC430’s platform was initially designed for a convertible, the Solara’s wasn’t, therefore the SC430’s platform is tight and the car handles very well (with the exception of somewhat soft suspension, as compared to BMW’s, for example - but still stiffer than the Mercedes SL’s), the Solara’s platform is very weak. Hence, the Solara suffers from both cowl shake, as well as poor road feedback.

gsh - these rims are only available on the Pebble Beach edition of the SC430 - they are not options for any other Lexus model.

there are a few cars(porsche) whose design seems to be timeless- this isn’t one of them!! Stop refreshing and give us something new.

I was hoping Lexus would sharpen the bulbous styling once its minor revision came around. The dish type wheels are the saving grace from this 90’s design. Time for a makeover Lexus.

I like the interior and some of the other finer details on this car, but there’s no hiding the fact that this car is pretty old and really needs a redesign, and hopefully this time Lexus can sharpen the styling, like the Cadillac XLR.

This color combo shouldl always have been available.

red interiors are the best and they are practically impossible to get in the US in most cars. Sports cars excluded of course.

Just look at what you can get from Audi and BMW in Europe. They give us the shiat.

Another package that will be overpriced and sit on dealer lots until the right geriatrics come by and make a low-ball offer. Mild appearance packages tied in with golf courses on lame-duck cars are simply destined to languish in dealership forecourts.

Ironic releasing a car with a name that invokes a famous Concours D’Elegance where this boring heap of boredom will never be on display. Lexuses (Lexi?) are reliable, comfortable and well made but they are so uninspiring that I almost fell asleep writing about them.

The problem isn’t that this is a Solara, you tool. I’ve borrowed one for a few days and it’s a solid machine with strong power, and a very cool hard top. The problem is that it’s too soft, too curvy and too close to a Porsche in price to even consider in a million years.

poor lexus sc430, easily the most competent car to ever be rained **** upon.

So what if it isn’t a bmw in terms of responsiveness? the way posers drive, anyone who bought an SL500 should have saved nearly half their money and bought one of these. If you bought an sl55 or -600 or -65, well, ok.

and I don’t care what anyone says, this may not be your favorite car, but it is absolutely NOT ugly. Every line has a start and finish, it’s an organic, smooth shape, and the high beltline is a direct result of trying to fit that massive roof inside the trunk without the car being overly long. The SL55 gets away with similar proportions by not attempting to have a rear seat, which is why it’s just a little bit cleaner. It really pisses me off when someone’s list of ugly cars goes:pontiac aztek, scion xb, honda element, toyota prius, lexus sc430….. whaaa? one of these things is not like the others!

The person suggesting this be sharpened up like an XLR needs to put an XLR next to a corvette and see what’s right and wrong about those two cars. One is a botched attempt to graft an imcompatible theme onto the appropriately shaped car. The XLR looks like the block of clay they cut a c6 out of. gross.

The whole car is not ugly, it is only the rear end - the rest of the car looks dated (early 00’s) but it really is the rear end and that domed trunk (accented by the spoiler) which looks bad - if they gave it a new trunk it would probably look ok and sell better - but I would still spring for the boxster - this sort of says to me “I make good money but am sort of clueless”.
