Back in April, we told readers about a report from the U.K.’s AutoExpress magazine suggesting the next-generation Subaru Impreza would be offered in hatchback form only. In its latest issue, the magazine now claims that not only will both sedan and hatchback variants be offered, but they will arrive at nearly the same time. The hatchback is expected to make its debut in summer 2007, while the the sedan will follow closely thereafter. The magazine maintains its assertion that the finished hatch resembles the B5 show car closely. After the jump, see photos of the B5, plus a cover scan from the magazine in April…

“kind of ugly”?
UGLY, period.
Too bad a competent car can’t also be attractive … maybe this is Subaru’s plan … build ugly but good cars, all the while building a loyal customer base, then one day shock everyone by building a piece of art that will sell like mad because it’s also a fine-tuned machine.
One can only hope.

The blue one on the magazine cover is pretty cool, but that white one is ridiculous. That’s an ass not even a mother could love.

none of these pictures are truly what the car will look like, they are artists renditions of what people think they might look like, but none are released by subaru and none of you guys can talk **** or judge yet. so hold your tongue, fools

rwcmick,
that would be awesome if the subaru hatch looked like that… I love the traditional C pillar and glad they ditched the wrap around back window that subaru seems to love so much with their impreza wagon and the B5 concept.

Sampson,
I showed that Mag X picture to someone who attended a consumer clinc on the next Impreza and he said it was pretty accurate. I guess we’ll find out soon enough!

That car would look so much better with some different rims and an all black paint job. Lots if possibilities.
