UPDATED - Ford will NOT offer V8 for Lincoln MKS

Update: The information Ford posted this week on its dealer website was outdated. Ford has removed references to a V8 from the marketing material. A V8 MKS will not be offered. Original story continues...

According to new specifications released by Ford to Lincoln dealers this week, the forthcoming MKS sedan will be offered with a 315 horsepower V8, contrary to a published report in August indicating a 3.5-liter V6 would be used.

At the time, the report by trade publication Automotive News suggested the automaker decided to scrap the V8 option as a cost-cutting measure. It's unclear if the report was inaccurate, or if Ford changed its mind due to negative reaction from enthusiasts. Either way, it appears the MKS will get a 4.4-liter V8 derived from the Yamaha powerplant used in the Volvo XC90 and S80.

Power will go to the all four wheels via six-speed automatic transmission. Other features include an option panoramic glass roof, adaptive LED headlights, 20-inch wheels, and an LCD navigation system.
