Edo Porsche Cayenne Turbo blasts to 60 in 4.6 seconds

Edo Competition has put together a 610 horsepower Porsche Cayenne Turbo, capable of hitting 60 mph in under 4.6 seconds. With a top speed of 180 mph, the Edo Cayenne Turbo is likely one of the fastest SUVs on the road.

Edo modifies the twin-turbo 4.5-liter V8 powerplant to achieve the impressive horsepower figure, as well as a respectable 579 pound-feet of torque. Other enhancements include tuned suspension with adjustable dampers, a lowered ride height, 22-inch wheels, and matching high-performance tires. Gallery after the jump…

“likely one of the fastest SUVs on the road”

—This thing costs 160k+! I’m not a fan of any SUV but the fact is anyone could buy a Jeep SRT-8 for 35k and go 0-60 in the same 4.6 and 0-100 in under 12 flat…

when you can blow your money on a cayenne turbo i dont think id bother with an srt-8 either. id rather have a gemballa cayenne though, those are the sickest ones around. (save for the rinspeed chopster.. but who has 400k for an suv)

all substance, no style.

oh and a 40K Jeep can match it.

I’m a bit cynical, I suppose.

I agree with y’all. I’m sure it’s bloody fast, but jeez—who picked out that color scheme? Fast tuner cars should look NICE, not ugly.

from distance it looks like a the average badly tuned and kitted pre 2000 golf GTI or so. the next thing we’ll se here is a modified MAN truck with 2000HP getting 0-60 in 5s. how useless.

this is a useless machine.. its shapped like a small barn and about as ugly as one too… and you are correct a 40k jeep can match its performance and its leses than a third of the cost… They shouldn’t even be able to GIVE these away let alone sell them for 160k for cripe sakes… yeah I know the yuppie set that can’t drive ANYTHING that doesn’t say Porsche on the side will buy this ugly barn for sure… and that is a proven expample of having more money than brains…

Always cracks me up when the “more money than brains” crowd starts in on anything beyond what they could imagine spending on a car.
Sorry if it bothers you so much guys, but some people HAVE that much money to blow. That doesn’t make the stupid, just rich.
BTW, I PERSONALLY think these Cayenne tuner cars are stupid, but for a different reason. They take away what made the Cayenne untouchable. OFF ROAD ABILITY.
All those quoting jeep srt8 numbers compared to a Cayenne turbo are missing one important point. Porsche COULD have made the Cayenne MUCH faster on the street, BUT they chose to do the near impossible and make (for its time) the fastest SUV, AND an outstanding offroad performer. Take the SRT8 up a rocky trail and see how long it lasts. The Cayenne can out trail a Hummer, then hit the hiway and do 165 on the way home. THAT, is engineering genius, folks.

So this is a body kit (which looks like ****), some engine bolt-ons, a rim job and let’s not forget that incredible paint. Pretty soon any asshat with a can of Tremco and a wrench will be called a tuner.

stig,
yes, “tuner”, not “rebuilder”.
What more do you expect a tuner to do? Reengineer the entire car?

The number of real tuners (ie those that know something) are few and far between - rim jobs and body kits go in with the “Unique Whips” crowd - really lame.

So, who in your book is a real “tuner”, and what do they do to the cars that makes it so?
