Leave is absolutely “as-is” as there is no need to Americanize it—which spells dome. I wouldn’t mind purchasing a Holden in the US.

Would like to see this in both the Canadian and US market. If we could share a Chevrolet & Pontiac version I would shed tears of joy to have this vehicle on my showroom floor!!! I think traditional import buyers would suffer from self-induced whiplash to see something *this* spectacular at a GM car lot!

this is a great car, but holden have the same front end as the ford, thats the only down part. also holden u have to start bringing out faster cards. other wise this is a great car, i like it!!!!!!!!!!!! i want one.

ITS A BLOODY FORD FALCON INTERIOR COMMANNED CENTRE EVEN THE BUTTON THAT U USE TO CHANGE THE RADIO STATION IS THE SAME I HAVE NEVER SEEN IT ON ANY CAR BEFORE EXCEPT THE FALCON, NOW in no supprise it turns up into the Holden, Holden have been doing this for years not coming up with there own desgin just Sterrling bastards!

This car looks alrigt im a Ford Falcon supporter, this car looks very similer to a Mitsubishi 380 exterior and the Ford Falcon interior. but the thing is in my opoion this car will be the number one in sales just because of the fact that its a holden and more people are fans of that. so holden dident have to even bring out a all new model and invest 1 billion dollars, all they needed to do was a major face lift to the VX series. anyway wait untill 2009 when the next falcon will be out it will be 10 times as good and its even going to be the US number #1 cars for police, Taxi’s and everyday people.

GM, Bring this car over asap. Don’t rename it any automotive iconic name. Don’t debate whether people will buy it. Don’t change the engine. Update the specs to US safety standards and sell them like hot cakes. Please price accordingly with no stupid rebates or incentives. Sell the V8/V6 as a Chevy Offer a supercharged or turbocharged version as a Pontiac. Life would be soo good.

Looks great, I dig the interior, exhaust and the side markers. However, with the way GM badge engineers everything, we might be looking at the new Impala, Grand Prix, Saab 9-7, Saturn LS, Buick Skylark, Hummer H4 Sport… kidding about the last one… I hope.

This is a complete and utter disapointment to the australian holden lover, they have made the front end look like a BA XR (ford for the US ppl), and the rear looks like the maxima or hybrid, I can not believe holden would try to sell an ‘americanised’ car back to australians, what were they thinking, I really hope this blunder doesn’t affect sales In australia this could be the biggest mistake holden has made to date.

There were previously plans to import the new WM Caprice sedan as a Buick, but those plans were shelved. Holden hopes its new initiative with the Commodore may renew interest in the Caprice as well. A Holden executive said the 362 horsepower ‘SS V’ model is the most likely VE Commodore to come to the ‘States as a Grand Prix replacement. "Pontiac is already talking about the fact they want to go rear-wheel-drive," said Holden chariman Denny Mooney. "A brand like Pontiac, in my opinion, could take this car and sell it." Converting the car for the U.S. would cost GM around $20 million, Mooney said. Of course, exporting Holdens as Pontiacs is nothing new. The Monaro was exported as the Pontiac GTO, with only limited success. However, GM has committed to building a retro-styled GTO when it revives the nameplate in the next few years. Exporting a Holden as a Grand Prix may make more sense, because expectations in terms of styling are different for that car from the GTO. What’s more, the Grand Prix is sold as a practical sports sedan, rather than a two-door muscle car. #33, I agree. I read an article in Car and Driver a couple months ago where they were suspecting that Ford would sell the Falcon here. If GM goes ahead with this car here in the States, then I would imagine Ford will do the same with the Falcon. They could be planning that already. Supposedly, they have a 4 door rear drive sedan in the works already based off the Mustang.

I drive a 2003 SS, so i suppose this is my next car. Looks sweet But damn, i hope it has that cylinder deactivation on the 6.0L V8 or it’s going to be costly considering i drive 500KM’s (280 miles) per week.

They promised a 20% reduction over the last one, but they’ve done it by adding 80KG and upping the V8 from 5.7 to 6L. so i think they’re full of shit….

Either way, go holden and ford suck ^_^

This car has a nice wedge shape obviously copied from Acura/ Honda. It’s exterior and interior styling is a little on the safe side but a nice car nonetheless. Light years ahead of the Impala.

Cameron, not only was the Torana Concept shown in 2004, but Holden already has a midsized sedan/hatch. It’s called the Vectra, which is soon to be replaced by the Tosca.

Right idea Holden…it’s the timing that’s um, unfortunate. It’s my understanding that these models are on average 100kgs heavier than the outgoing counterparts. Together with more powerful engines, is this the direction we “really need” to be heading, given that 91 octane fuel is now $1.77 where I live (NZ). I wager that history will suggest that Holden may have been better bringing a mid-size sedan (and/or crossover) to the table. Just as they did sucessfully in 1978 with the first Commodore VB.

When I first heard Holden would still have a hand in developing the next GTO and Camaro I thought crap more lame designs. But this car has given me a little faith in their designers. The concept Camaro’s wheel base looks too long but this car’s wheel base looks just right. Maybe this ZETA platform will work after all.

very good and handsome, but somewhat generic looking car. it lacks character. doesn’t have “gotta have” look, but that’s probably the part of the design brief; don’t make it too fancy, just make it look good. interior seems very well put together as well. rich looking material, nicely lid, layed out…again, somewhat generic, but very impressive. it seems GM paid very, very close attention benchmarking Audi’s interior, which is a good thing.

overall, nice car, but lacks character.

uncle sam, you are correct… the new camaro will be running on a version of this chassis, so holden has in a sense had a hand in the development of the next gm muscle cars… but this bodes well for the new impala and statesman…
