The S package on this looks like all show and no go. Fake carbon fiber accents? that sounds like ricer stuff.

A $35k Golf. I mean Rabbit. Looks better than a crappy bland porsche, I suppose, but then again so does a Mazda RX8, which I would take any day over the TT.

God danm what a improvement fromt he first genereation. The body still needs some tweaking, but the front end is beautiful. Love to see what the tuner markets will make of it.

Brandons right, the TT was an expensive way to buy an Audi on the outside and a VW on the inside; but what you also bought was an icon and the simple joy of owning it, a bit like buying a real nice watch or so.

I like the new TT, even though I think it has lost some of its original “bauhaus-ness” thus making it compete in quite a different and larger segment. The old TT has the potential of becoming a classic car but I don’t see the same future for the new TT.

The old TT didn’t necessarily have to be an driving machine, which the new TT from a design point of view clearly seeks to be, even though Audi never could make a superpowered version of it, due to the R8 ( and the Lambos ).

My 2 cents: Generation 1’s insides aged poorly and looked horribly cheap compared to that of other sport coupé’s in it’s price class. The truth was you were buying a $40k Audi on the outside and getting a $20k VolksWagen on the inside. There’s nothing worse than when parent car company’s share parts/panels with their luxury lines to save a few bucks. Example: Have you noticed that even the Bently GT ($180k) shares the same shifter design as almost any automatic tranny VW console, too? So sad. Bottom line is this: How do you improve on an already perfectly designed exterior such as the TT? I wish they would have kept the uniquely rounded, short nosed lines of Gen 1’s shell and just dropped in the new interior. Whether you get 1st or 2nd gen, buy the TT with DSG (a.k.a. dual clutches) and Quattro. Why? Because if you haven’t driven the TT with both those options, your impression of this car and it’s prowess will be at a HUGE disadvantage!

I’ve driven the 2004 and it’s fun as hell. Be it auto or standard shift. It’s not a TRUE sports car, but it’s perfect for the 3rd car that only gets driven when the driver wants some excitment. But… I really can’t see why the Audi interiors have been rated so highly. I’m really not impressed. They don’t really strike my fancy. But I’d love to own one of these if the S2000 wasn’t so much cheaper and … well.. better.

The S-line package is simply that A PACKAGE. It is basically cosmetic enhancements. There is no performance benefit beyond slightly increased handling. The TTS if/when built, will have a faster engine. Just like the S3, S4, S6, S8, over their A3, A4, A6, A8 counterparts. There is an A4 S-line, an A3 S-line, an A6 S-line, which all have nothing except special cosmetic changes. THATS ALL. The TTS/TTRS will be called that when their engines are boosted. It is also not mandatory for all S-lines to be Quattro AWD. They can be Frontrak. The TTS/TTRS will be Quattro, but S-lines do not have to meet that requirement.

Huge front overhang is true of all Audis.

The worst part of the S-line package… no engine upgrade. Not even a little ECU tweak to make it the slightest bit different.

It’s a true European car, with the gas paddle mounted to the floor, thus its bigger than when it just hangs down from the top.

This is an AWD car. All S-line and RS models have quattro AWD.

I think it would look better in black or grey. TTs in red are a bad idea.

TT S i believe is a somewhat confusing name if you think about it, its simply 3 letters. i dont think that works well, S-line is also what they’ve referred to the S treatment on previous TT’s so it works, plus theres the TT RS in the works
