That back seat area is fine fine fine. I can’t stand that secondary dash pod/ iDrive thing or what ever it is. Really farks up the whole dash area.

I think it needs a “I’d rather be posting on LLN” license plate holder and some Yosemite Sam mud flaps.

Anonymous – I clearly stated personally when describing my views.

I didn’t demand everyone else do the same, nor did I tell anyone that they were wrong for having their own views. Yes it’s “just a car” and “just a house” and “just a computer” – everything is “just something”. I happen to have personal tastes with my car (and things) – which I was describing. Also, if you feel they’re all “just cars,” what do you care about an automotive site like LLN – a place where the vast majority are passionate about automotive news and vehicles.

For the record I treated even my first car like it was a 7-series! (Albeit a ‘94 Lumina is slightly less exclusive… and by slightly I mean “exceedingly”)

Honestly, if I had the money to afford a 7-Series, I wouldn’t treat it any differently than my 3-Series. It’s just a car.

That means I would put whatever license plate frame on it I felt like putting.

Adam – you’ll notice I said “Note to all other manufacturers” – OTHER being the keyword. Of course I don’t expect BMW to put any special nomenclature on their 7s.

Secondly, I (personally) prefer a minimal plate frame devoid of any text whatsoever (Such as a clear frame or subtle black trim). But that’s just my preference – I personally just think anything else lacks class. The license plate should not be a focal point of your car (regardless of your dealer, witicism, or Alma mater) – if it was legal in Vancouver to not utilize a front plate, I would take it off entirely (as the car looks far nicer without it).

I personally strip my cars of any stickers / decals / nomenclature entirely – I think it all adds clutter.

#6 Do you really think BMW is going to put a special badge or nameplate on their cars??? Please dude. No one will ever know the car is “special edition” except the people who know the colors are not normally available.

Dealer plate frames. I prefer them over the “Britany’s car Matt’s payment” crap. Based on your logic its probably not okay to have your college alumni plate framed either. What plate frames are okay?

#7, I couldn’t agree more. They have this thing they do in the Midwest and the south, where they put a decal or hard to remove “emblem” on the back of cars that advertise the dealership. That alone would make me go to a different dealer. Here in SoCal you’ll never see that ****.

Note to all other manufacturers: (Warning – ranting to follow… )

- Primary Rant

PLEASE don’t put gigantic “Special Edition” / “SE” / “Anniversary Edition” / “Limited Edition” badges on your cars – and lay off on the “special edition graphics”. If the car is “special” it should stand out without the use of badges.

That’s one thing I dislike about many cars these days… The “Camry Plus”, “Jeep Limited Edition” the “Corvette Anniversary Edition”… just give me a nicely modified/upgraded version of the car without making it look like a rolling infomercial.

Don’t even get me started on the people who leave the dealer license plate frames on… if I pay for a car, I am not going to advertise your dealership, so get ready to strip of any graphics that you tried to sneak on.

#3, this is not the same color combination found in a mustang for one, but if it were it would probably work better on the bmw due to the fact bmw uses high grade leather where plastic infused cheapo leather is used on the mustang.

The silvery one is a 760Li whereas the black one is a 730d diesel. It looks like more of a trim package than a “Special Edition”.

when BMW does it, it is upscale and a good thing. When a domestic does it, it is a ‘california special’ POS.
