Cadillac has updated its CTS sedan with a new grille and wheels for the 2007 model year. The 2007 CTS is largely unchanged, but these minor tweaks should keep the car fresh until the much-anticipated new model arrives for the 2008 model year. Images after the jump…

And on the inside? How about some interior design and materials inspiration?
Maybe something at least as nice as a Kia Spectra for once?

Yeah, but it still has the 1990 Ford Probe mirrors, and 1983 Ford Tempo door handles, and (like the other guy said) Kia interior. IF the 2008 Model is more like the STS I would really look at one, because it’s a good chassis.

I cant even see any changes…wake me when they actually re-design the car and make it look good because this shape too me is lame 80’s sharp-crease boxy i.e. what we all considered “futuristic” in the 80’s/90’s.
The biggest issue is that they took perhaps the biggest fault of American cars(old-fashioned square-shaped interiors) and then decided to expand these shapes to the whole car! Sorry to keep criticizing but give it a real redesign by getting off this ultra-square/boxy Volvo-esqu design bandwagon and infuse at least a few sexy CURVES please(i.e. 2007 Audi TT – now there’s a quality redesign)…

what do you get?
a car that goes really fast in a straight line with a cheaply made interior.
for the same amount of cash, get a 3 series, a4 or c class. either people dont know, or people are stupid.

Wow. Just when I thought we’ve hit rock bottom…
Why so much silly hate against GM? Sure, they build mediocre cars, but it’s like the entire company mugged us and raped our families and peed on the Statue of Liberty or something.

Its fun to hate GM right now. Despite the fact that they are turning things around right in front of our eyes as we type, people will give no slack and come here and bag on one of GMs more popular models. The CTS styling is different, something you BMW and Lexus sheep dont know anything about. The next CTS will really be amazing. Do you remember what Caddy looked like 6 years ago?

Good luck finding a kia with such a defined center stack.
And I drive plenty of luxury cars, many of them on a daily basis, and few of them have anything about the interior that sticks out. The quality of plastic is a ridiculous judgement on most cars, as the cadillac has little difference from any other car.
And those so called “expensive plastics” are the first to start to show any age. Drive a 5-10 year old lexus and tell me the interior is stellar. It isn’t. Hell, even the newer interiors with all the fancy trap doors and stuff are showing wear with less than 15,000 on them. It might look fancy from the factory, but it doesn’t hold up. The CTS interior is durable if nothing else.

I agree with mike, I have driven everything from a BMW 5 series to infinity G35 and there is very little difference in the materials used in these interiors. You may not like its configuration or how it was styled but it’s not cheep by any means.
In fact I found cars like the Audi A6 to have a cheaper fit and finish in the interior than the CTS, I mean all they did was stamp out a hole in the dash board for the side window vents, and at least Caddy put a finished piece plastic to cover that.

I can agree it is original and defined, in a PC tower kinda way. And as far as durable goes, it is typical “GM of yore”…
Can be stripped by a 2 year old.

Yes I do, it was a brand aspired to by older folks. If I can still walk into a Caddy dealer and find a car sitting on the floor (And I have!) sporting wire wheels, curb feelers and a Landau roof then not much has changed.

My original Point was there is no giant leap in other cars interior materials at that price range, It’s all about if you like the way it looks and the way everything is positioned. In this car I do, not everyone will agree with me but that’s why a caddy is not for everyone.

A tight fit in the interior today is a squeak tomorrow, don’t you forget that. But I guess that matter’s not, since it’s the finest plastic possible, eh? Stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. Panel gaps and fit and finish aren’t all they’re cracked up to be. Like was mentioned above, what really matters is the positioning of everything, and frankly Cadillac and GM on the whole have it down just as well as Toyota and their ilk. What bothers me is when the switch moves when you go to press it, that’s cheapness. But not something the CTS has a problem with. Could it use some metal accents? Absolutely. Is it as gawd-awful as this comment section would have you believe? Absolutely not.

It isn’t gawd awful. The G6, Monte Carlo, Malibu? Those are Gawd awful. The CTS is just more Kia than Lexus. And it isn’t even at Kia’s level for materials and build which is just sad.
Like I said before, the CTS has nowhere to go but up when it comes to the interior. A revised grill and change of wheels isn’t going to make this any less cheap.
