Yawn -

This truck is just as boring as the Yukon/Avalanche/Suburban/Tahoe/Caddy Crap that they have on the market.

Absolutely no technology improvements. If you want to call "active fuel management" TECHNOLOGY then you are living in a dream world. Chevy tried that a long time ago and failed miserably. Oh how quickly the public forgets when GM paid so much money to sweep that crap under the carpet. It's only a matter of time before this "active fuel management" goes awry. Quite interesting that GM is trying to claim Flex Fuel as their own. Kind of interesting since Ford invented that technology 20+ years ago!!!! A lot of GM's "technology" can be attributed to Ford Motor Company. OnStar you say? Technology??? Umm...let me see here. I'd rather be in a truck that allows me to reach down to my cell phone and CALL FOR HELP after an injury. If I lock my keys out of the car, then guess what? I've got my keypad to let me back in!!! AND I DON'T HAVE TO PAY 30 BUCKS A MONTH FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have to understand - GM leads the world in recalls for a reason - they make pathetic, cheap crap. Ford even hired Polk to debunk GM's half truth that their trucks are the "most reliable trucks on the road." Now that THAT comment is worthless for GM, they have only LOOKS to go on to sell trucks. Of course, they also have the very naive Chevy booster who thinks that their trucks are worth more than $20.

Face it - redesigning an interior and having a wannabe Super Duty front, F150 side, Dodge Ram bed, with a Ford ripoff logo on the back "technologic" advancements, then you're a complete idiot. GM stopped making trucks in the 90's. All they make now is crap. Recalls are testament to that. So is my 2002 Silverado that burned to the ground with 2,000 miles on it.

The tundra and the titan are pathetic excuses for trucks. The Ram is a good truck if you're only ready to replace your brake system every 10,000 miles. That only leaves the F150. I have owned 5 of them - ran all of them up to 200,000 miles before I traded any of them in. My workforce includes 25 F150's, 10 250's, and 10 350's - buying tires, brakes, oil changes and tire rotations (with an occasional fluid flush of some type) is EASY on the pocketbooks.

Well you have to praise GM for their leading fuel economy with the utilization of Active Fuel Management. Now with the flex fuel engine that can run on 85 Ethanol, GM are definately pioneers in technology, on-star is a great example. It is nice to have the available alternate fuel sources. Personally I think that's better than getting fuel on another planet which was a suggested comment that was posted here earlier.

Overall - yawn. This is what happens when you hire cross competitor. When you get designers from 10 diff auto companies, you end up a with a piece of everything on the market. Looks like the interior guys did ok though. Powertrain holding thier own for the most part, cept, umm. 1980's A-4. All of these trucks should have the A-6.

Can they make a more boring truck? Didn't think so... What about fuel economy? Forget it, this has to be from another planet where they don't have $3+ gas...

I just leased the '07 CHEVROLET AVALANCHE with the LTZ package; 4 x 4 with the 5.3 liter VORTEC V8, and can report that it is a TOTALLY AWESOME TRUCK! The technology is there, the ride is firm and confident. It really turns heads, I've gotten lots of favorable comments from perfect strangers. Mine is black with grey interior, which matches my other vehicle, (06 Chrysler 300C HEMI.) It has the rear view TV camera, which shows up on the NAV unit. The NAV unit is GPS based, and operates in real time. I actually PREFER the column shifter on a truck, but I don't think anyone uses that criteria as a basis for deciding what to buy. I also get rack & pinion steering, rain sensor windshield wipers. The sound system is 340 WATT BOSE tuned system, with AM/FM/XM and an IPOD adapter. The steering wheel controls are well laid out and intuitive. The remote start feature is something I'm learning to appreciate. FLEXFUEL ™ technology, displacement on demand technology, and massive 4 wheel disc brakes complete the package. The styling is much cleaner and more expensive looking, especially the interior. I work as a commercial construction electrician, I really NEED a truck for work. (and I'm a gay democrat, so don't say that politics has anything to do with what someone drives) Also, most the guys I work with are kind of conservative when it comes to trucks, Japanese trucks aren't especially popular, plus, not even Ford or Dodge offer anythink like the midgate™ feature, which dramatically increases versatility. This truck with a big honking V8 gets BETTER MILEAGE than the V6 Honda RIDGELINE!! Props to GENERAL MOTORS for showing everyone else how trucks are done. It's really amazing to me just exactly how nice trucks have gotten over the years, it wasn't that long ago that pick-up trucks were really spartan, and a chore to drive. The only items I wish it had are xenon beam HID headlights, a six speed transmission, one-touch express windows, down AND up, on all four windows, (why is that feature so slow to arrive?)

Ford announced that the new maximum towing capacity for the f-150 will also be 10,500 lbs. Now, I didn't hear or read about any news of them upgrading the frame in those trucks, or putting in more powerful engines, so there's something that Ford is keeping secret. Besides, if you don't do those two things I just mentioned, you can't raise the maximum towing capacity, right?

Until GM stops building half thier trucks in Mexico, Im sticking with my F-150. Ive always bled chevy red, but after 2 in a row with piston slap, that make alot of noise and wont pull shit, Im done.Yeah, you 5.3 and Hemi guys smoke my 5.4, till we put a load on the back of them. GM just doesnt get that in a 6000 lb truck, horsepower is meaningless. Biggest mistake I ever made: trading in my 97 with a 350, second was not buying this ford sooner!

I think that this new generation of GM's full size truck is going to take a while to get used to. I think its going to be a good seller.

This looks like a combination of ever other truck out there. Chevy and gmc had the same looking trucks year after year. They looked so much like all the other chevy and gmc year models. Now they look so much like all the other trucks out there. Those rear tail lights look like they would be interchangeable with a Dodge. The thing that pisses me off is that I used to be a chevy man thru and thru. Not anymore. They need to fire all their designers for being so uncreative that they would result to coping other trucks styling. After waiting so many years for gm to redesign their truck fleet this new truck is unforgiveable. I will never buy another GM truck. I was waiting for this new truck to come out before I bought my next truck. I have to buy a new truck at this very moment. I'm going to buy the new ford supercrew. At least that truck has a look as if some thought went into it's design. GM will lose a huge part of the truck market with this dud.
what a shame.

these trucks are the biggest rip offs of every other truckout there. Tail lights are dodge rip off, box is pure dakota, GM front end is Ford super duty, interior is new dodge, split front bumper with chrome in the middle is dodge. Gm box is frome the canyon. These are dissapointments to the truck name.

Between the 2, The GM has the better styling. The Silverado looks like its smiling at you, kind of like the original Dodge Neon, or the current VW Beetle. A truck should look tough, and not just be tough. I honestly cant wait for Nissan and Toyota to deliver their heavy duty 3/4 ton trucks. The truck market will surely be much more interesting then. My Titan runs circles around the current GM/Chevy offering, maybe these new ones will stack up better.

Think they both look great, but I'm leaning towards the GMC a little more in the exterior styling department.I still havent seen any pics of a short box regular cab, work truck. Thats all I'd be interested in, preferably with a manual transmission.

I own a 2004 2500HD with the Duramax. I Love it but when I saw the new Tahoe I was impressed. Now I see the new Silverado and Im pissed, they need to get some new mechanical engineers at GM this trucks body style is horrible. Nice interior but still not enough room in the crew cab and wheel wells are ugly. They need to keep it plain and sleek down the edges and an agressive front end. Engines sound great its just the truck that makes me shake my head. I Hate Ford and Dodges but I sure hope Chevy can impress me with the next Silverado. Heres some advice get the engineers that are responsible for the new Corvette they can design.

This will steal some of the thunder of the new Tundra....It's better, great, in fact, and a domestic!! What happened to the hybrid version they were developing two years ago? If there were a good time for it, it's now.

I agree John, I would take a 2007 Tundra any day over either of these two, but of these 2 trucks the Sierra is far superior in exterior looks. I really find it humorous that they offer the "traditional truck" interior, the "interior you find in every other GM product" interior, and the "navigation" interior as if they're offering something special, when really you just get to pick from 3 choices of generic cloned crap. The Denali looks decent on the outside, even though its an answer to a question NOBODY asked

It looks ok but kind of boring. The Sierra does look a little better. I wander if this truck is really going to bring in more sales...

The new Tundra will have the ability to tow over 10,000 pounds with its new 5.7 Liter V8 engine and six speed automatic transmission. It supersized the previous Tundra in terms of size or dimension.

The new Tundra offers class leading roomy passenger cabin, and the controls are large enough for construction workers without taking off hardhats and gloves. Toyota is known for their quiet interior and reliability, not to mention the great resale value.

As a person who have driven both American and Japanese trucks, I would definitely go with the new Tundra in my opinion.

There will definitely be intense competition when the 2007 Tundra arrives

Wow, thats a really cool looking utility track in the bed. I wonder how they came up with that. Oh wait, my 2004 Titan has those dont they...

In all seriousness, GM is hurting, but this truck does look like a step in the right direction. I wont be buying one but thats because I love my Titan. Before anyone screams buy American and calls me a democrat like its a curse word, my Titan engine was built in Tenn. and the truck in Canton Mississippi. Cant get much more American than that.

Of course Toyota is going to market trucks to compete with the ONLY thing The BIG 3 has the market in. Do you honestly think that TRUCKS/SUV are the way of the future? Keep in mind, the crossover vehicles are more practical and holds the highest sales in today's market because of 1 thing and 1 thing only. GAS!

It's a great vehicle. You can use the truck to haul your CORN cause ya gonna need it. Drink up! Stick with smaller new frame vehicles built off these car lines. It's the reason why Toyota is pissing on the Big 3 in sales. CIAO
