Even in Europe FIAT is stuggling. Each new model is presented as the model that is going to save the company. And each new model is better than the previous one, but unfortunately for FIAT, the competition is improving too... Nevertheless, this car looks pretty good, but that says nothing about quality and handling.

What Fatstrat points out is very true; only the premium market in the US and Europe are comparable, with the difference that premium US models hardly sell in Europe.

To me it looks like potential US high volume car customers only want a European car since oil prices doubled. And because they are not sold in the US they buy the Japanese cars: and for GM and Ford it just takes time to adjust their AMERICAN cars to the new demandings. That is something different than just get all European volume cars to the US.
Firstly, that's not possible because of costs and production capacity problems. And the time it takes to solve that is probably equal to develop your new american models.
Secondly I feel that Americans still prefer an American car if possible. And if possible means here, that is satisfies there needs.

Some people dont realize that the US market almost exclusivly gets only the premium model cars from the EU.
As a result, many people think that GM/Ford etc have the market cornered on less than desireable cars. That is simply not the case.
I am not saying this is a bad car, just that Fiat has a reputation in the US that is going to be tough to overcome in the short run. In order to be successful IMHO they are going to have to look at the big picture and plan on hoeing a long row.

I see Murano and CX-7 in this thing, and I dunno what's up with that front end.

But it's unique and modern, even though it isn't my taste, it's nice because it's progressive.

Are Fiats still plagued with quality issues, or is it just a residual reputation? I like a lot of their newer styles (Multipla excepted) and this Bravo looks great. Looks-wise I'd take it over a Golf any day.

Notice the tight panel gaps. I hope this is the resurrection of FIAT; it's one of those marques that you want to do well. Even when they were making rust buckets, they were charming and fun ones.
