2007 Ford Mondeo artist’s rendering

06/12/2006, 12:56 PM

By admin

A new artist’s rendering of the 2007 Ford Mondeo should give a pretty good idea how the final car will look when it’s unveiled later this year. The illustration appears on the cover of the latest issue of AutoShow, which is Turkey’s version of AutoBild. The rendering jives with recent spy photos of the car as well as other drawings. Apparently, the car will star in the upcoming 007: Casino Royale movie, alongside the 2007 Aston Martin DBS. Full image after the jump…

ford better bring this over. looks much better then anything in there stable right now. it has a very VW Passat look to it. especially in the front and the roofline.

I agree. Why don’t they bring it here? I know that the crash and safety standards differ from country to country, but come on! How hard would it be? The same can be said for GM and Holden. Some of the Holden products are really sweet, and I think could do very well in the US.

Ford, are you listening!?! (probably not!)

Looks nice. I see a little Toyota in the front, and Nissan towards the rear. Both Ford and GM are making some nice looking cars. You can see a trend starting, if it looks good overseas, it will sell here too.

Previous Mondeo’s were better looking than the Tauruses and other US Fords, and yet they never brought it over. Doubt they will do it this time.

Kind of sucks when an American car company refuses to sell its better products in the US.

Thanks for giving us the shiat Ford, GM and DC. I’ll thank you by not purchasing your products.

wernt the previous generations RWD??? this would be a killer car in our market right now. The way the 300c took off and the up coming camaro/challenger/mustang battle. it would be a good idea for ford to have a sedan that can play with them. Shelby Mondeo GT500 anyone? $40,000 M3 killer! If they made it available with all the engines you can get in the msutang they would have a sure fire hit that they can sell lots of and *gasp* make money!

If you can’t sell it cheap enough as a Ford, replace the Mercury Milan w/ this! Make Mercury the EuroFord of America.

Nick they tried that before and screwed up and will so again. The US egg heads in upper management need to be removed and replaced with the obviously clearer heads from Europe.

1) By better products I hope you don’t mean Ford Mondeo as my neighbour has one and the car starts to become rusty after just 2 years. Bad paint job on the car as well. In general I detest Ford for making bad cars.

2) Indeed, don’t buy Ford, GM nor DC but buy a decent Audi A4 as I did. Model 1996,310.000 KM (or 206.000 miles) and still running without any problem.

This Mondeo has resemblences to the Iosis and Reflex concepts and that is not a bad thing at all. If this car is done correctly, it will sell very well. My only suggestions to the exterior would be to make the headlights something other than the angular slits found on every Japanese import. Posiblly more rectangular or heck even ovals! The grille could also add to the looks of the car if it were more prominent and not a black mesh but perhaps some kind of chrome treatment, but keep it clean and simple. In all if Ford could capture the simple lines of its Land Rover, Jaguar, and Aston Martin brands in its econo-cars, they will sell very well.

How about bringing it over here and badge it as a Mercury? That might give Mercury more distinction from similar Ford models. Maybe follow the footsteps od GM’s Saturn.

I think it looks nice and mean up front but I preferred the lines of the Iosis at the rear – however, this shape screams a lot more in practicality where it loses out in style.

If you want a bigger-than-mondeo RWD equivalent I’d suggest Aussie Ford Falcons.. they use great control-blade suspension and have nice big engines which I know you guys over the pond love.

As for the mondeo it was always FWD with a few rare 4×4 models which weren’t all that. They handle quite well for FWD and will have 3 litre v6 as ST220 had but maybe a new 3.5 V6 now.

Also Ford have a 3.6 litre V8 turbo diesel coming out pushing out some good torque figures! Might be a new Mondeo ST TDCi?

Watch this space!

That is an awesome looking car. Take that designer and make him redo the entire ford line, and fire the rest of them – yeah! woo! Also when you’re firing the rest of the ford designers tell them they suck – and that they should find another career, except the guy who did the GT and the Mustang, and I guess the F150, that one does look good.

Hi to all Ford nuts ! seen pictures of next uk 07 Mondeo ( if still using this name ) looks ok ish in a conservative way but not as radical as the Focus mrk 1! mind you they always look better in the metal and better still when the ST people have dressed them up ! !

A little birdy tells me that the 2.0 tdci will be a new 2.2 unit ( hopefully a permitation of the PSA’s twin turbo peach used in the 407 sport, that said it might not get the 170 bhp, as there is also talk of them using the 2.7 v6 diesel out of the S type Yum Yum

This all sounds very nice for diesel lovers but with all that torque flying about they will need to up the game with the 3.0 petrol units too ?

Ford will know doubt improve the quality all round with the VW Passat firmly in its sights , ” i’m saving for mine already ” !
all the best Kev
