Road and Track has published a review of the 2007 Ford Shelby GT500 convertible. The hotrod Mustang is powered by a 5.4-liter V-8 topped by a supercharger and can reach 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. The car features an upgraded appearance that looks especially aggressive in non-studio photos. Overall, R&T was impressed with the GT500 drop-top, which unlike many convertibles, feels solid. “There’s no cowl shake, shimmy or rattles usually associated with an open-top vehicle. The convertible feels a little more fluid than the coupe, but even over tar strips and other road imperfections, the body is solid.” But perhaps one of the most important characteristic of the GT500 is its price. “There’s that word, inexpensive, which is really the charm of the GT500.” writes Matt Delorenzo. “Although pricing has not been set, word is that the coupe will start at around $40,000, with the convertible costing approximately $4000 more.”

The car looks awsome but if it can only pull a high 12 for the quarter mile something isn’t right! 475 / 475 should be able to get near a low 12. Maybe they shouldn’t have gotten rid of the independent rear suspension?
