Honda today revealed a prototype Civic Mugen Si Sedan prepared by Honda tuner Mugen equipped with a high performance suspension, forged aluminum wheels, aerodynamic body styling and a sport exhaust system at the 2006 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show. Planned for production in a limited quantity of 500 units a year, the Civic Mugen Si will be available at U.S. Honda dealers starting in spring 2007 with a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of less than $30,000 and a full factory warranty.
The track tuned suspension, tested at the Twin Ring Motegi racing circuit in Japan, lowers the vehicle by 0.6 inches with aggressive spring and damper tuning for enhanced handling performance while still maintaining ride comfort. Compared to the stock Civic Si Sedan, front and rear damping force (both bump and rebound) was increased between 8- and 24-percent (the rate varies depending on condition). Lightweight 16.7-pound 18×7.5-inch forged aluminum wheels (27 percent lighter than the stock 17×7 alloy wheel) and high-grip BFGoodrich g-Force KDW 215/40ZR18 summer tires help to further improve handling.

Since this series of Civic design is brilliantly done, it is hard to improve upon it. The wing certainly does nothing for it. Even though the factory warranty still holds, it’s hardly worth the extra money for what little goodies are included.

I’m liking the rear, shift knob, and especially the rims. But not so much the front bumper.

agreed the front bumper dosent work somehow.. if the car was actually low then perhaps it would be better, but in 4×4 mode it dosent look that great.

For that kind of cash, it will need to out run both the WRX and Evo. But with front drive, and I suspect more weight, I don’t see it.

I have an 03 Evo VIII and you know what that cost me at the time? 27K. The new Evo IX is around 30K and I think 32K for the MR. You have to be kidding me about this civic.

To much money, I don’t like the bumper and for some reason I don’t like the area near the side mirrors+driver/passenger windows. Other than that I think its a great car.
Who knows how much howerspower it will have, and how much it weighs

It looks good but it’s definietly overpriced. I rather get an older Civic and dump the rest of the money into other stuff.

Plus for 30Gs you can easily get your hands on an Acura TSX A-Spec or something like that. Way better than some pumped up Civic.

Now if the guys over at Honda were any smart, they’d start putting in those new 2.3L turbo 240HP engines from the Acura RDX’s onto these puppies(inc.coupe).
But ya know THAT’S not going to happen. At this rate the 2015 Honda Si will have 220HP while the competition is in the 300s. Just next year the freakin srt caliber will have that amount.
They need to step up their game as far as their performance.

Yawn.
tuninglow, you still need the downforce at the back regardless of what wheels are driving the car, just added benefit of improved traction with the rwd….

This car has a nice clean tuner look, now if they will have this wing on the two door Civic SI that would be cool. Typically I’m not a Honduh person but there are exceptions,

tuninglow,
I have no idea what your talking about? Downforce is downforce, doesn’t matter if your being driven by 4 wheels are 8.

Totally agree with Eric Z: nice Civic, but only until the very second you realize you’re spending EVO money (you’d have to be *severely* retarded to take this car over an EVO RS…or WRX for that matter).
But, hey, to be fair I doubt that many buyers of the Mugen Civic will have much of a problem enjoying this car to bits…just so long as they don’t race for pinks.

^ yeah but you have to remember the Evo RS is a car with no creature comforts. No power windows, radio, etc. Some people don’t want to sacrifice those things when they buy a new car. The RS is aimed at a different buyer IMO.

$30K = used m3, porche 993 911, STI, EVO. No thanks Honda. Can I get some APC stickers with that wing?

I’ve seen better body kits from Modulo for the new Civic. This Mugen thing looks like something from the 90’s. They need to get on with times. As for the costs, clone brand name body kits run for $400-$600 for a full body change. Cheap…

I see an SI with different rims…thats it, i love honda but mugen is a joke, you pay like 10K more for a mild body kit and what?….30hp? buy an SI if you want a civic and for 10K you can buy a better body kit, nicer rims, a racing suspension and a turbo, and end up around 300-320hp and better cornering. MUGEN=JOKE
