2007 Honda Civic Si sedan to arrive at SEMA

08/28/2006, 8:01 AM

By admin

The production version of the 2007 Honda Civic Si sedan will arrive at the 2006 SEMA trade show Oct 31 – Nov 3. The Si sedan was previewed with a concept version of the car in February at the Chicago Auto Show. Pricing is expected to top $20,000. It will offer a 197-horsepower, 16-valve, DOHC i-VTEC engine with an 8,000 rpm redline, mated to a close-ratio, 6-speed manual transmission. If you never had a chance to see the concept, have a look after the jump…

This almost competes with the TSX in terms of performance. What is left for Acura to sell except an empty meaningless badge? =(

I am sure the next TSX will have a turbo and/or SH-AWD to differniate it.

Great…another Honda that you won’t be able to buy (short supply) that the dealers will gladly gouge willing suckers for thousands of dollars over MSRP. Wake up Honda to the sleezeball dealer practices. How about turning up production a couple of notches? Oh, great looking car BTW.

It’s acceptable if they redo that awful dash and dump the downs syndrome taillights. But Wonderer is right, why buy a TSX?

at 20k, you are entering a whole ‘nother ballpark as to what is available.

downgrade the brakes and wheels, make it all body colored, remove almost any soul…

and you are left with a slightly more powerful (at engine thrashing rpm’s) civic sedan with a stiffer suspension. Perfect for the costal teenagers.

Great on looks, yes but if Honda threw in SH-AWD and changed the engine to the RDX Turbo-K20, I’d pay attention.

When the new US plant is built hopefully they will be able to meet demand & start having numbers that better rival Toyota in America.

Somehow I doubt the carbon fiber hood will make it to production.

What’s with the black hood?

Hyperion: There is no sense in Honda putting the SH-AWD in anything but the flagship… otherwise, what is the point of the flagship?

Aside from interior volume, and a slightly higher output v6, SH-AWD is the pretty much the only factor in deciding to choose a RL.

They cannot afford to water down the sh system across the board.

Renton: the coupe concept had the same hood & it did not make it to production so I would think that the same applies here.

The SH-AWD is apparently going to be an Acura exclusive to help differentiate it from Honda (good idea me thinks).

I like the idea of this car, but those taillights and the weird dash partially ruin it for me.

Regarding “downgrading”: I’m surprised Honda isn’t taking more advantage of the tuner market and producing a “stripped-down” version of the Si that’s essentially body, drivetrain, and enough basic “stuff” to qualify as a car.

In other words, minimize the number of items that’s going to get stripped out of the car (i.e. no stereo, most basic seats available, etc.) and make it as “tuner friendly” as possible…

Gorgeous, great engine, god-awful steering wheel. Thanks Honda, but I’m still getting a Mazdaspeed3.
