When i first saw thisk car on photos i thought it looked strange, but when i got to see it in real life i was amazed how cool it looked. I drove it for some time and the handling is nearly perfect, you get really connected to this car, it feels like it’s built around you, like the feeling you get in a Subaru Impreza. Don’t judge this car by looking at photos, you’ve got to study it in real life.

Funny that all the naysayers here are pretty much all anti-imports, pro-domestics. But I don’t have a problem with that. In fact, it’s a good thing that some people are still buying the generally inferior and cheaper domestic cars; it keeps the competition going and workers get to keep their jobs.

(I can’t believe a dude actually claims the Saab 9-3 is “demolishing” the G35, TL, 3-Series. Ahahah, talk about ignorance… The only thing it’s demolishing is its own reputation.)

The new modern, if not futuristic styling is a bit heavy on the Battlestar Galactica side, but most will find the wheel spinning power, razor sharp handling and screaming 1.8 VTEC sound pairs nicely with the out of this world styling. Besides, once you’re behind the wheel and blazing it out whith the shift paddles flying, you won’t care what it looks like – you’ll care that it goes like hell, sounds insane and blazes every corner you throw its way.

I had a thought… like if Chris Bangle had worked for Honda, or if someone decided that what he’d done for BMW wasn’t good enough and Bangled the Bangled version of the Honda, like a Bangle Squared…. this is kind of what it might look like. I like it MUCH better than the old ‘05 designs, but good god. The rear end does look like it’s been through hell. Belongs more on an extended edition of TRON or something.

Not bad but the interior layout is kinda poor (too cluttered) and the front head lights remind me of some early to mid-90’s sedan head lights. The headlights suck.

My friends 8 year old son would like the ‘Gundam’ look Honda seems to be going for here but it’s a bit odd to me.. Also, LOOSE that weird ass steering wheel, it’s center looks like the lid from a trash can.

While I wouldn’t be in the market for something like this, with the success of the current Si here in the states, Honda could continue the momentum with this car. And with the demise of the Acura RSX, Honda could once again concentrate on being the spunky, youthful brand that they were known for.

The Ecotec motor in the Cobalt is world class next to some little ricer from Japan. Honda has a LONG way to go before they match the sophistication of the Ecotec. It is so good, it is the basis for the Saab 9-3, a car that completely demolishes the competition (TL, G35, 3-series…etc)

Want a real motor? Buy a GM with the avialible 2.2 or 2.4 liter Ecotec. You’d be foolish not to

Give me the 2.2L CDTI engine option, puh-leez Honda! 258 ft-lbs, 140 HP, and 45 mpg would be sweet in this hot hatch.

I agree with the posters that say we get screwed when it comes to car/engine selection in the states.

It’s only cool and/or good looking if they sell it in the USA in all trim levels INCLUDING the Type-R.

It Honda USA doesn’t, then I say it’s a load of ugly garbage.

I think this car is hot! I love the shape from side view. Sure the front is a little busy, but it is different. The interior is a bit of a mess…. all those levels, where to look exactly?? LOL
I am sure Honda will not send it to the U.S. so those who hate it rest easily, hoever I am sad to not see it here. Would be great against the Ford Focus and those nast GM Ions and Cobalts
