Hey, this car brought a lot of profit to Porsche, no matter what they say, plus excepting the design which is something debatable, Cayenne performs better than X5, ML or Range Rover Sport.

I just bought the titanium edition cayenne s and I love it. I replaced an X5 and the difference in power and handling is incredible. This is a fun car to drive – maybe not a 911 turbo, but I can’t get a $31,000 tax deduction on a 2 passenger sports car. It’s a Porsche and I’m proud to drive it.

PS: I drove the V8 Toureg and the “animal” above probably has a love of the VW bug and he just let go.

All of you guys that are talking about why they produced the cayenne and how it so ugly. You either cant afford 1 or are fixated that porsche should only make sportscars! Look, you can’t go anywhere without seeing one! There great looking, great on the road, and when you want to pick your kids up at school you can proudly say, “I’m taking the Porsche!”

As a multiple Porsche owner and advanced driving instructor I can tell you that the Cayenne is NOT a sports car or track weapon. It is however, the very best handling SUV that I’ve driven and it does have the Porsche DNA. I’ve owned a Touareg and it is the Buick version of the Cayenne albiet wondefully finished. And as far as looks go, beauty is in the eye of the beholder (I like the Porsche look but also the RR sport and Tourag).

So, don’t knock until you’ve driven the thing on a day when the Porsche that I’m sure you all have in the garage is not fed and watered.

You guys just don’t get it. The Cayenne is more interesting than most of Porsche’s sportscars. When I go to the Porsche showroom, I’m only interested in checking out the Cayenne. This car masters multiple skills. It’s got a sportscar engine plus an incredible four wheel drive system. The styling is not for the mainstream Lexus/Infinity crowd; it’s more for the muscle car crowd. Cayenne also happens to be practical for the daily commute. It’s silly to spend $100 grand on a 911 Carrera, and yet only be able to take it for an intentional spin on the weekend, if the weather is nice.
Price is not the reason for Cayenne’s popularity. It is true that some Cayenne models are priced in the Boxter range, but there are other ones priced above a 911, and people buy them too. The Cayenne Turbo S has more power than any of the Porsche sportscars other than the GT.

In fact, there will be no Cayenne for 2007. Instead, Porsche is fitting 2006 models with options like the Titanium Edition in preparation of their new model coming in 2008. So no major upgrades for the year 2007 over 2006.

I don’t see why they thought expanding their market share was necessary, or why they thought it was a good idea. At least they still make the 911.

Hint: Go and test drive a V10 TDi Touareg, better looking and better economy with insane power.
