By admin

The official unveiling of the new 2007 Saturn Aura won’t take place until next week, but a new print ad for the car has already been published in some magazines. The ad indicates the car have a 248 horsepower engine. The ad also shows the new Saturn Sky Redline, which we previewed last week. See the Aura after the jump…

The Aura appears to be the same as the concept apart from a tamer front bumper. Look at Opel.com and how their sport versions look and you’ll see that the concept front bumper appears destined for a future Aura Red Line.

We’ve seen this before many months ago. I don’t know why this is new news. Unless I’m just thinking about the concept. If that’s the case, I don’t know what is different about this production model from the concept.

Once again, GM has mucked up the production model by changing styling cues it priviewed from the 2005 Detroit Auto Show concept. Yes, it may have been just a concept but the produciton version of the front fascia looks like garbage, in my opinion. Maybe, the body color badging (which reminds me of the new Toyota Camary) will be on base models with the chrome added as an option to upper tier models (lets hope). The other change made is the size and sculpting around the fog lamps… again I prefer the concept model.

Enough said… besides who knows what the rear end looks like.

The production car looks very close to the Concept car.

This is one poorly lighted picture that we are judging and this is NOT the redline version that the concept was. We will find out for sure at NYAS.

So… only the redline version looks good?
And everyone else’s everyday version is unappealing? That sounds like great design allocation.

This car is uglier and more generic than a Camry. That’s bad.

Who said this one was ugly? There are very small changes between the two. It sounds like you dont like this car anway, redline version or not.

don’t get your panties in a twist because they changed the foglamps, ferchrissake! it’s a family sedan, not a race car .. geez, talk about overreacting. it looks almost identical, the comparison the the G6 concept vs. production is way wrong. way.

for comparison purposes, folks: http://www.automobilemag.com/auto_shows/naias_2005/0501_saturn_aura_front_445.jpg

its more than just foglamps… they took all the agressiveness out of the grille, front bumper, and the doorsills… the wheels no longer fill the wheelwells right… but then again this is just a run of the mill model, only the sportier redline has to look good…

Derek,

After coming in touch with my inner self, Bill, we have discussed thouroughly and he tells me what you say is true: that I do not like the Aura, red line or not. Therefore, we retract out statement earlier and apologize. Bill also tells me the Aura will be beautiful to me if I am 40 years older.

I am sure this car is beautiful to those who think it is. I hope the Aura finds many loving, caring new homes.

Honestly there is hardly any change between this and the concept, at least on the exterior. As for the badge engineering… what difference does it make when Opel/Vauxhall and Saturn aren’t sold in the same countries!
