The tC is the best car on the Toyota lot when it comes to interior and exterior styling. The outside, while a little vanilla, is stylish, and the interior is great for its class. The HVAC controls aren’t the tired three-knob format, and the radio cover is pretty cool, though it will be used less since this steering wheel doesn’t have buttons on it. The panoramic roof is great and, even though it’s a bit tight, my 6′7″ self can fit in this subcompact car.

it doesn’t void your warranty. You can have up to 19in wheels on your xB and it will not effect your warranty. if you get TRD parts then they have a 3yrs warranty. But most dealers wont hassle you for using non TRD parts. Also…even if they tried to pin a problem on an aftermarket part they need to PROVE that is what caused the problem otherwise they have honor the warranty.

Not a the real Renton. Even I would not ask so stupid a question. Many cars today do not have a keyhole in the passenger side. Real Rentons do not find this odd.

i love the idea of the car. its suppose to be messed with. that is how Scion pushes these cars. they dont expect them to stay stock and in fact all the dealers i have had experience with, encourage owners to mod them. I have an aftermarket suspension on my car and my dealer gave me no trouble for it. Scion also sponsors all sorts of free events. I saw Tokyo Drift on Scions bill. private theater, free tickets for anyone you can fit in the car, free pop corn, free soda, free candy, free tshirts all sorts of stuff. At other Scion events I have picked up backpacks, countless tshirts, footballs, a really nice basketball jersey, more key chains then I have keys. Toyota has a really good thing going with this brand. and just wait, other companies will catch on soon.

In my opinion It has no style, chracter or presense at all. Just a typical dull japanese design. If you are going to copy something then atleast copy something which is half decent like the Alfa romeo’s not the chevrolet Cabelt

I’m surprised that they’d want to take close up shots of the interior – it reminds me of the cheap plastics and uninspiring layout you used to get in early Kias before they got their act together and started making decent cars.

I would also like to add that this is hardly a “base model”, seeing is how they are making them in low numbers, second why make a car with wheels and options that people are going to replace anyway? It makes it ALOT cheaper to get wheels and other items. Also the money you save can go towards a Turbonetics kit.

Are you serious? I give a ****. And seeing how Toyota surpassed Ford, alot of other people do too. This is an even more inexpensive version of a car geared towards people like myself – those of us who don’t have trust funds and have to strap together cash just to buy a car, nevermind modify it. It gives us an inexpensive option so we can accessorize the car the way we like. I applaud Toyota and can only dream I can own a car like this someday.

yes, I will agree with you the tC has similar tail lights, and I will add to that some. The C pillar is also similar, as well as the dimensions. But it has a boxier front end and is slightly longer I believe. Also interiors are fairly different, performance and different quality records, not to mention the demand. Everyone has their own opinion though
I like the tC, it doesn’t look like some street racer but it’s a cool car. It’s got some unique, nice features at a relatively low price. Performance and transmission are good for it’s price range too. I would not call some of the materials “high quality” but they aren’t that bad.

I’m not 100% sure why Scion bothered on this one. I understand the whole decontenting and selling to enthusiasts (MX-5, M3 have done it with reasonable success), but this car is designed as a base model so it can be RE-contented. Time will tell if this is a good marketing concept… I don’t think it will be.

i belvie they came out at nearly the same time. with in a few monthes anyway. not enough time for one company to copy the other. to expand on my last commnet. i think those gimmicks make the tC feel like it has character as it doesnt feel like a parts bin car

i think the tC has some cool “gimmicks” the radio cover the Sunroof is relaly nice. thats why i give it the points for interior. I drove a Cobalt ss and i really liked it! the Racaro seats in the performance pkg are really nice. i was very impressed. If i was going to buy a ~$20 i would have a tough choice.

The tC really isn’t that much ahead of the Cobalt on the interior department, the materials feel cheap & flimsy, the gaps are decent but nothing to write home about and unless you get an “expensive” one the features are cool but useless. I think you’re either giving the tC too much credit or not enough to the Cobalt.

Other than that I agree with you, James doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

^^^You have no idea what your talking about. The tC is a pretty quick car (mid 15s in the 1/4) Scion cant build enough of there cars. Most of the time they are sold before they even hit the lot. I had to wait 63 days to get my limited edition xB. (say what you want i dont care) as for my earlier Cobalt, tC comment. The Taillights look nearly identical and the headlights leave the same line that goes down the hood. But i think the tC is a nice looking car and way ahead of the Cobalt on interior fit/finish. but it looks kinda blah out of the box though i have seen some killer cars at some shows. PLUS Toyota will warranty a supercharger that puts it up to 200hp. how can you complain about that! I love the idea of a spec package, didnt Suabru do this with the WRX

Looks like the cobalt? Well everyone has their opinion, but if it has more boxy proportions than the Cobalt, and I believe it’s larger. Also in my opinion the interior is a little nicer and the designers were brighter.
Stuart, again it’s just an opinion what you said but I don’t feel it is. Why do you feel that way about Scion?

besides the fact that it looks very similar to the Cobalt i just dont like the proportions on the tC. Behind the doors looks to long. The rear wheel looks like its to far away from the front and it makes it look small. (the prius gives me this same impression)

This is not really a sports car, it reminds me of those “ladies” Coupes from the 80s by Nissan 100NX or Pulsar and Toyota Paseo.

Yes it will be reliable but its hardly cool. It’s good that makers are producing models specifically to be tuned though
