Suzuki in New York revealed the XL7, a new large SUV crossover for the U.S. market. The all-new XL7 was designed to blend SUV versatility and safety with increased driver and passenger comfort,” said Koji Yamada, chief engineer, XL7. “The XL7 not only offers the cargo and seating flexibility for all aspects of a consumer’s active lifestyle, but performance capabilities and safety features that give them the confidence of being in control.” The standard powertrain for the Suzuki XL7 is a GM-designed, Suzuki-built 3.6-liter, V6 DOHC engine rated at an estimated 250 hp with 243 lb-ft of torque. EPA fuel economy estimates are 18 mpg/city and 24 mpg/highway for front-wheel-drive variants and 17 mpg/city and 23 mpg/highway for all-wheel drive. Towing capacity is rated at 3,500 pounds.

lol the headlights make the truck look sleepy lol it has bags under its eyes —- everything from the a-pillar back reminds me of that pacifica ive always wanted with cts tail lamps (and the cts’ knack for tiny wheels) :) lol the interior seems to be a nice place to spend some time but with the koreans on the charge looks like suzuki is going to be the first of the japanese to fall- its just so outwardly boring its putting it self to sleep

for the price, the fuel economy, and the towing I would rather have the new 4 door wrangler unlimited… but that is just me.

I like the headlights. Haven’t seen a shape like that before. I heard this was based off of the same platform as the Equinox/Torrent/etc. If so, I think this is the best version of it. I wish it offered better gas mileage.

Don’t like the headlight, the shape just does not go with the SUV.

If I didn’t know any better, I’d think I was looking at a GM clone. The real tip off is the radio. So what makes one want to buy this over a Torrent or Equinox. The trapazoidal headlights, man.

The new XL7 should have been the Equinox GM should have built in the first place. It has a distinctive snout, an interior almost the same like the latest GM full size SUVS plus that powerful dohc engine unlike the ancient Chinese built ohv in the current Equinox.

This looks pretty good. We at least know that it’s as good as any GM product, and cheaper too, so it will obviously do better than the previous XL-7 ever did. Everything about it says GM, from the interior (really nice) to the fact that it’s based off the Equinox. Too bad the name is so indistinctive, though…

Suzuki is on a roll. Keep it up.

It would be interesting if Suzuki ever built its own vehicle with its own engines. As they build some ot the best sportbikes in the world, you would think that they would use osme of thier engine knowledge and make a great engine. I think Yamaha builds the Volvo’s v8.

This looks like the first Suzuki vehicle I’d even consider buying, good job!

Chewy – Yamaha does indeed make the V8 in the XC90 (one of which I have just ordered for overseas pickup in Sweden). As far as Suzuki making their own engines based on their motorcyle engine technology – it seems like a good idea, but the packaging is completely different. Also, Yamaha makes a ton of crazy random stuff, including motorcycle, car and aquatic engines.

Suzuki, as a car company, is so incredibly aimless. Just as Isuzu… hmmm, they both have partial GM ownership in common. But so does Subaru, and they’re doing great. But I hear that Subaru and GM had a falling-out after trying to Saab-ify the Tribeca.

So I guess that anyone who agrees with GM suffers their fate – they produce vehicles nobody really wants.

The steering, audio system & Ac knobs look like they came out of a impala.

Sherwood, Suzuki’s aimless as a car company? How do you judge that? I don’t think you’ve seen their new Grand Vitara…

This is absolutely stunning. Fresh new look that is both slick and classy. Some nice details ex: figure 8 chrome outline in the center guage, nice chiseld line on the molding of a-piller, matchign lower portion of the dash on driver side/passenger knee bolster. Beautiful car inside and out.

Looks like they stole that grille from Ford.

Otherwise, nice looking. I wonder how it feels though. Those top-shelf looks good go to crap if it all feels hard & plasticky.

body don’t look good at all. I think the old body Suzuki XL-7 look nicer, but need to build bigger thats all. I like the old body suzuki XL-7 than the new body or shold build similar like the Vetera, not like the Exquafax car. I love the suzuki XL-7, but one thing that too small for my family and the cargo too small. I used to had one Suzuki XL-7 2004, but I trade for the Isuzu Asscender because Isuzu is bigger.

its look nice for the car maker, but doesn’t look nice for the customer to buy because i think the old model look nicer. my suggestion: they don’t need to redesign the models all they have to do is make the car bigger, more horse powertrain and only need to redesign the headlight and tailingt thats all……..

The all new XL-7 is looking great no matter what anyone says i have to sell these cars. The old design was out of date. The new design OVERALL is one of a kind. yea the interior is simple but what do you expect its selling in all of the other vehicles. Suzuki offers the #1 warranty in america and using equivilant technology as subaru at a better price. Now suzukis midsize sedans are another thing they either gotta go big or go home but the all new suzuki sx-4 is looking great check it out!!
