Spied: Mercedes-Benz GLK with no camouflage!

The Mercedes-Benz GLK isn't scheduled to be unveiled until the Detroit Auto Show in January, but spy photographers spotted the German automaker's newest SUV completely uncovered on the set of the upcoming Sex And The City movie.

The GLK's styling is true to its name, as it looks every bit like a Kleine GL -- its seven-passenger sibling which sits atop the Mercedes sport-utility range.

The GLK's styling is highlighted by a strong character line just below its belt line. Wide fender flares give the baby GL an aggressive stance and accent the GLK's 10-spoke wheels. The front fascia is capped off by a typical Mercedes-Benz grille.

The GLK shares the platform with the new C-Class, and the main engine for the U.S. is expected to be a 3.5-liter V6 making about 270 horsepower with a torque rating of 260 pound-feet. Additional engines, including diesel options are also definitely in the cards, although many of the alternative powerplants will be sold solely in Europe.

The GLK's primary competitors are the BMW X3, Acura RDX, and the Land Rover LR2.
