2008 a “record” year for Lamborghini

12/23/2008, 8:55 AM

By Andrew Ganz

Though unwilling to spill exactly how many of its low-slung, high-performance cars were sold to excited buyers in 2008, Lamborghini says the year will have been a “record” for the Italian automaker when it comes to a close in a little over a week. Lamborghini intends to deliver its official news at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Lamborghini issued a typically cryptic press release that didn’t spill the beans, but did indicate that it “will deliver another record year’s results in 2008.” Whether this figure applies to number of vehicles sold or profit margins has yet to be revealed.

Lamborghini’s release does acknowledge that it is “not unaffected” by the slump in economic activities across the world, but says that it is in a “favorable strategic position” and that it continues to maintain a “strong forward order bank,” meaning that there is still a waiting list for Lamborghini vehicles.

Lamborghini says it isn’t laying anyone off, though it did extend the company’s December holiday to eight days.

extend the holiday to 8 days or by 8 days, anyways a record year for lamborghini isnt that hard due to its very poor history, they do make the best supercars in the world however so its unsuprising.

Sweet….. Lambo probably ate into Ferrari sales. Lambo’s look bad ass and Ferrari’s don’t. Did the Dark Knight movie help?

The market for these never dries up. There’s always somebody getting rich, and the NFL is still there.

Well, two of them are on my block, and they are gorgeous. However, their look-at-me owners are a PITA as they have no discipline and are constantly flooring them when they exit the gate; I await the inevitable sound of crunching metal one of these days.

Always good to give that sort of news at the auto show in Detroit, where everyone is starving. Reminds me of an old buddy who used to brag about his salary right when someone in the group would lose their job.

@ Scratchy – Frank Sinatra may have said that but it was first proclaimed by Ferruccio Lamborghini. About a year after he started building road cars. Thank you very much Enzo for giving this guy the inspiration for this!
