i wasn’t shocked like most here. i mean, the car is not great, but it’s not that horrible either. btw, the rear reminded me the defunct VW Quantum (i guess that’s the name)

That’s not a Saab 9-3 in a posh suit, its a Saab 9-3 in some kind of hideous post-mid-life-crisis fashion disaster. The detailing is brash, but that’s to be expected from Cadillac, the real problem is the lines. The roofline is too high, the windowlines are disjointed and the front end looks like a transplant from a Renault Kangoo. The back end would look great, if this were a 4×4.

You say that you wouldn’t consider buying this car because you don’t have faith in American cars, just after you say its a SAAB in a posh suit – so its not American at all.

I think the BLS looks awesome. There are only 3 problems I have with it:
1. It is front wheel drive.
2. There is no coupe version.
3. I can’t buy it in America.

this time i agree with homeboy and lambo. this looks unattractive from the front. like a hearst, as someone wrote. i would be interested to know how well it drives though

Not a fan of wagons, but at least this one doesn’t have hideous oversized tail lights taking over half the rear end. Much better looking than the **** Volvo is releasing.

Yeah in europe if u dont buy a merc,audi or bmw u buy a volvo or a saab. If u want unreliable u buy an alfa romeo its pretier and probably better but together.

Just came back from the Salon Auto in Geneva. Compared to almost all the other cars I sat in and touched, the american cars are sooo cheap.

I had high hopes for the new Chrysler Sebring, but even this car felt like the used the plastic that you normally find at the back of TVs.

Perhaps it is because we are so used to very high quality cars (Audi, VW, Seat, BMW, Mercedes..) that we here in Switzerland don’t buy american cars. That is, except me, but I won’t do it again, sorry.

I agree the nose on this car is less attractive than any American Caddy. But the rest of the car looks great and it makes me anxious to see the upcoming CTS wagon.

I think it’s hit from the front, just hideous. The way the windshield and roof arch up so high over the hood, not sleek at all. I doubt this will really sell, the BLS sedan is a cheapo, non competitive entry level sports sedan over there that is to the best of my knowledge not breaking any new grounds in any way shape or form, and the same goes for this.

Didn’t they already have the SRX wagon based off the CTS?

If this wagon isn’t rear wheel drive then gee whiz, what’s the point of it as a Cadillac?

Did GM suddenly start making more rear-drive four cylinder engines?

Cadillac has 25 years of street creed to make up, and this piece of euro-trash is NOT going to do it. They cannot curse Cadillac with bin-sharing parts cars.

Hmm, well I guess that saying “every little bit helps” will apply here. Cadillac doesn’t have much presence in Europe but a diesel powered estate should help them in the long term. As long as they remain vigilant and not give up after what will undoubtedly be a slow start they should do well in the future.

IMHO, This would sell very well here in the US.
As quality with Caddy is not as much of an issue as the rest of GM I think it stands a fighting chance to be mildly successful over the pond. If it goes as good as it looks it will do very well indeed.

I doubt they will remain this excited when they see these cars not selling as they expected it to do.

This car is supposed to be a competitor to Audi A4/A6 Avant, BMW 3 and 5, Mercedes C and E class, Saab, Volvo, etc? Seriously, these cars are in a way bigger league then the Caddilac. I doubt it will live up to it’s expectations. Europeans (as I) generally don’t like American cars and I feel this isn’t going to be any different. The style is just way to American and won’t sell over here.

Secondly we are more Diesel minded then our US friends so just having ONE diesel engine won’t cut it.
