that retractable roof isn't an industry first, it's another trickle down design from mercedes. the mb option is available on earlier ML's and called a sky roof. it's pretty f'n cool when it's open and it's nice out, but after hearing the repair price on a friend's (2.5k+) i'd be scared to use it....

No, Vike, however, it is expected that the quality of materials and the design theme used is high quality and not outdated/low quality. So...defending a low quality, crappy, unattractive interior by saying "well...well its on a jeep so it has to be bad!" holds no value.

I rarely agree with the 'left', but I'll second leftys comment here.
I have owned 2 Jeep products in the past and they have more than exceeded expectations in all performance parameters. Comfort, durability, dependability and go anywhere off road capability. My hunch is that this one will follow suit.

OK. so, Jeep comes up with an INDUSTRY FIRST, and all youngm7 can do is complain about what MIGHT be a problem. So, youngm7, other than preconception and perception, what have YOU experience with DCX vehicles that makes you assume this system would not work great? That's what I thought. I have owned MANY DCX vehicles, and have to say, all the systems, and all the quality is as good if not better than what I expected, ESPECIALLY considering the price. Oh, and the interior taht is "cheap" is a pre-production prototype WITHOUT grain.

Why don't you wait until it gets released at the dealer, drive down, and look at it in person, THEN judge it. Things are, in my experience, much better in person than in pictures.

Moderately cool idea, if they can eliminate the inherent wind noise and waterleaks. And since it's DCX, this sounds like a bad proposition.

My Jeep doesnt have that bad of an interior :(

I mean its bad, but its a damn good car for how much i pay for it: $235/month for 27 months with $0 down. Well the only option i got for it was the V8 instead of std. V6. This is an 06 WK.

About the new Liberty though, it is a step up from the current one. If you can get the 4.0 255hp in it then it should be pretty fast as well. I like the roof, but i wouldnt consider this as a choice for a next car.

Looks like the standard DCX crap interior. When will they get a clue? Acres of grey plastic does not an attractive interior make.
