Mercedes-Benz has announced pricing and optional equipment for U.S. models of the all-new 2008 C-Class. The ‘08 C-Class is priced around $1,500 less than an equivalently equipped ‘07 model.
Here’s a breakdown of the option packages that will be available when the C-Class goes on sale on Aug. 7. All wheel drive 4Matic models will follow a month later.
C-Class Base Prices:
C300 Sport Sedan: $31,200
C300 Luxury Sedan: $32,900
C350 Sport Sedan: $36,500
P1 Option Package — $1,400 (standard on C350) includes:
• Satellite Radio
• Heated Seats
• Automatic Dimming/Folding Mirrors
• Garage Door Opener
• Rain Sensor For Windshield Wipers
P2 Option Package — $2,750 includes all of P1 features and:
• Bi-Xenon Headlamps
• Corner-Illuminating Fog Lamps
• Split-Folding Rear Seat
• Rear Sunshade
Multimedia Package — $2,700
• COMAND Navigation
• 6-Disc DVD Changer
• harman/kardon LOGIC 7 Surround Sound
• Voice Control
Stand Alone Options:
• 7-Speed Automatic (standard on C300 Luxury and C350 Sport;): $1,440
• 6-Disc in-dash CD Changer: $450
• Panorama Sunroof: $1,000
• Leather Upholstery: $1,550
• TeleAid Telematics System: $820
• 18″ AMG Split Spoke Alloy Wheels (RWD Sport only): $1,000

Looks like MB has realized they cannot simply trade on their good name and then produce vehicles of sub-Mercedes quality. Everything with MB is a la carte just like Porsche. You have to add at least $15,000 in options before you get something nice. Show me the way to the BMW dealer.

Mercedes’ reliability is abysmal. $36,500 BASE + thousands in options for a car that’s going to spend a lot of time in the shop being repaired? There are better choices out there.

Why did they have to make the Logic 7 Surround Sound system available only in a package that includes the nav system? Not everyone likes nav systems.

GARY, the W220 and W203 early production models had a lot of problems. So that has stigamatized most people about Benz quality. Currently however, the new W221 S class has been fairly decent as far as major problems goes. So one can be hopeful for the new C.

yeah but mazda is also a peice of crap with no heritage… with a mazda, is for someone who cares about money, has to have the cheaper things in life, doesnt care what the car is as long as it has the most bang for the buck, but it has no class or history to it, its not what you call “art”…
mercedes on the other hand is still and always will be a mercedes, a beautiful car people will admire at for years to come, whens the last time you seen someone look at a 1991 mazda 626 and say “damn thats a good looking car”….? never! plus its a luxury car, and mazda isnt, the build quality in this new c class is better than mazda will ever produce, i mean, now the auto makers like mazda and ford are making interior qualities as good as benz did it 5-7 years ago when they were doing bad and you guys are saying “ooh mazda is so much better than mercedes”… you guys need to get out more.
