With America’s jump from large trucks and SUVs, Chevrolet ’s redesigned 2009 Aveo couldn’t be coming at a better time. However, a price hike for the base 2009 model could potentially put off some prospective buyers. Although the new Aveo will still be a relative bargain in the auto market, the base model car will now be taking a bigger bite out of buyers’ wallets — $1,125 to be exact.
The 2008 Chevy Aveo5 is the most moderately priced vehicle in America — listing from just $10,895 — but the new Aveo5 will sticker from $12,120, thanks to a host of new features (including four air bags and standard OnStar) and the deletion of the Special Value edition.
The sedan version of the Aveo will match the Aveo5′s base price of $12,120, which is actually a slight decrease over the outgoing 2008 model.
The up-level 1LT model will list from $14,255, while the range-topping 2LT model will sticker from $15,520. Both LT models feature standard air conditioning and an automatic transmission.
Despite the slight price increase, we’re sure the new Aveo will find plenty of buyers with a 27/34 mpg city/highway EPA rating.
