The new CLC is already production ready, but Mercedes-Benz decide to give us an idea of what the new coupe could have been. The German automaker has released several sketches that illustrate different direction Mercedes thought about taking with the CLC’s styling.
The drawing range from radical to conservative, and it appears that the production CLC landed somewhere in the middle. One of particular interest appears to be inspired by the company’s SLR supercar.
But no matter what design we might have preferred Mercedes to choose, it’s a moot point to those of us residing in the
‘States, as the new CLC will not be for U.S. consumption.
The the design of the 2009 CLC is mostly new, but the car still rides on the same architecture as the last-generation C-Class Coupe it replaces. However, Mercedes-Benz claims it has upgraded the new car with over 1,100 improvements.

LLN needs to get on the ball with writers. Just little mistakes here and there, but their articles seem to range from lackluster, to great. Different writers, totally different skills.
I would have chose the middle one, in the second row. The reason I would choose that one is because it looks like the idea of the car was really thought over, something small and sporty. I would have changed the front and hood though. Mercedes has really screwed up their nose design though, they all look more like SUV’s. The very last one, and the one above that (second row, last, which is the one that made it to production) also look very good. All the others, totally miss the point and Mercedes design, such as the whole first row, the 4th, the 7th and the 8th drawing.
Ironhide- And you have to be curious, the reason we all wonder why?

I agree jayjc08 the middle one in the second row is the best. I think Mercedes has to do the blunt nose thing to meet EU regs on safety to pedestrians? Not sure but I think so.

The second row middle that everyone likes has promise, but I dislike the front-end profile. Too Z4…. which I hate.
