Dr Fill ---
You haven't been inside a G35 lately, have you?
The people that will buy this car are the people who are looking for a car that is "somewhat" close to a G35 but with a little more inside room.......

Why am I buying this over a G35, where I can get a stick, more power, better warranty, and a reasonably good looking ride for an extra $2k, again?

Nissan, Listen to me if you really want to sell Maximas, do the following:
1) Make it RWD (w/o much luxury so you don't compete w/ G35) optional awd system.
2) 6SPD Manual standard or DCT optional
3) 300hp at least 290lb/ft torque
4) Max weight should be 3300.
5) screw the bose sound system
6 msrp starting at 26k

I promise you, you will at least triple your sales, hell I'll buy one for sure.

If you do the above you won't compete against the Altima or the G35.

Nissan = Oldsmobile of the 21st century. What's the point with any of their cars anymore now that short-bus riders are doing the styling and jamming that CVT in everything. Ack.

4 door sports car? Not any more kids. And anyone who gets their jollies paddle shifting a CVT needs to be smacked upside the head with a clutch pedal.

It's not a bad buy, but eishhhh, CVT again. I'd love a stick in this faux "4DSC" but at least please offer the option of a proper automatic.

BTW, the hangnail headlamps do stink but can be stomached, but at least in the pics the dash and console look pretty off-the-shelf. I suppose it's better than a Toyota trAshalon though.

So why would anybody interested in a $30k sport sedan buy this over a G8?

frylock350, people that still think just because it's Japanese it's automatically superior will. Kinda like tripleonefive, and I'm sure MugenSentraKen would love to get his hands on this so that he can slap a huge turbocharger on it and try and go after some Vette's.... Ha!

I agree HolyDogWater, I like the new Maxima, well everything except for those headlamps. I hate this new style with a passion. I think it looks retarded. Well Nissan is going with it. It's going to be on the 370Z and other future models. Lexus is also starting to do this and have a similiar style on the LF-A.... Expect to start seeing this more and more...

Koala bears are going to love this car.

Why would anyone need paddle shifters on a CVT? Sorry, but even to fake people into thinking they are shifting is just a waste to me. Lose the shifters and lose a tiny bit of weight in the process, not to mention the loss of moving parts that could break in the future. It's not like ricers are going to be able to afford this thing with their burger-flipping income and their illegal racing winnings.

I like Nissan, I do. But I agree with probably 90% of you: those headlights are horrid.

Why have paddle shifters with a CVT. They've even changed the trim levels; SE at one point in time stood for Sport Edition. They have replaced it with SV. Wonder what that stands for, probably nothing like every one elses trim levels.
