The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced the recall of 951 Nissan Frontier pickups after identifying that a weld responsible for anchoring a child’s safety seat in place could fail in the event of an accident.
According to NHTSA, the affected vehicles are all King Cab models that were manufactured between June 10, 2010, and June 26, 2010. The vehicles were found to fail the child restraint anchorage systems testing, as the weld between the tether anchor and the seat gusset bracket is not within specification.
Based on testing performed by Nissan , the weld could potentially cause the bracket to separate during an extreme accident, which has prompted the automaker to announce the safety recall.
The recall is scheduled to begin on or by September 1, 2010.
