The previously range-topping Corvette Z06 model has been mostly untouched since its introduction in 2006, but now the high-performance model will receive several upgrades for 2011. Included in the list are highly acclaimed and all-new Goodyear F1 Supercar Generation 2 tires, several optional carbon fiber replacement parts from the ZR1 in addition to other suspension and braking components from the range-topping ZR1 Corvette.

The C5/C6 Corvette birthday bash was recently held at the Corvette Museum, and Motor Authority noticed one of the attendees, Corvette Blogger, managed to capture some video of the presentation and details on the upcoming changes for the 2011 Corvette Z06.

Leftlane previously shared most of the changes due for the 2011 Z06 as Chevrolet already released limited information about the Z06 Carbon and the Z07 package. Now Leftlane has acquired new specifics regarding the upcoming changes for 2011, including the addition of all-new asymmetrical Goodyear F1 Supercar Generation 2 tires.

In addition to the new standard tires, Chevrolet has also ditched the H-pipe exhaust in favor of the better flowing X-pipe design. The change was meant to make the sound more aggressive, keeping in line with changes to other Corvette models. Chevrolet insists that the changes still maintain the vehicle’s unique ability to essentially have two exhaust styles – performing as a quiet cruiser under normal driving conditions – and providing for a far more aggressive note when applying copious amounts of pressure to the far right pedal.

Leftlane had also previously confirmed the addition of available carbon fiber bits from the ZR1 Corvette for the 2011 Z06 by way of the CFZ Carbon Fiber package, but Chevrolet has given more details about the pieces themselves. The ZR1 features carbon fiber with a clear coat to allow for the visible carbon fiber pattern, but for the Z06, those same pieces come in a satin black finish, which Chevrolet says allows for the same performance gains (via weight loss), but at a lower cost to both the producer and consumer.

The CFZ kit includes rockers, splitter and rool panel with a full-width body color spoiler.

Also confirmed was that the Z07 performance package will include the Magnetic Selective Ride Control, directly from the ZR1. This means that the Z07 package will provide for the full Brembo Carbon Ceramic Brake System, 20-spoke Competition Gray wheels and Michelin PS2 tires – in addition to the Magnetic Selective Ride Control – all from the ZR1.

Chevrolet says that the Z07 package is intended to provide the benefits of the braking and handling, while paired with the 50/50 weight distribution found on the naturally aspirated Z06 Corvette.
