NV officials not worried about Faraday Future's canceled factory

Nevada officials said they're not upset over Faraday Future's canceled factory near Las Vegas. At least four well-known companies are interested in turning the land into something productive, though additional details haven't been released yet. "We're pretty confident that something pretty significant will move forward in the very near future," said an official in an interview with The Nevada Independent.

Audi cools fuel cell plans

Audi is making large investments in electrification, but hydrogen-powered drivetrains aren't necessarily included in those plans. Volkswagen Group boss Matthias Mueller said Audi would build a hydrogen car "one of these days," Instead, the company prefers focusing on pure electric cars and plug-in hybrid models.

Jaguar to expand XF Sportbrake lineup

The Jaguar XF Sportbrake is currently only available with a 380-horsepower engine. Autoblog has learned the British brand will soon expand the lineup with more powerful (and more affordable) models. Expect a 180-horsepower turbodiesel, and a 340-horsepower version of the V6.

BMW 8 Series to come in three body styles

BMW will offer three variants of its upcoming 8 Series. The basic version will be a coupe, like the 8 Series Concept (pictured). It will be joined by a convertible, and by a fastback-like sedan named 8 Series Gran Coupe. All three body styles will be eligible to wear the M8 nameplate.

Toyota gets serious about sports cars

Toyota is once again taking sports cars seriously. The company's long-term plans include developing a standalone sports car platform that will spawn a model billed as pure and genuine. Where it will slot in the Toyota lineup is anyone's guess at this point.

Faraday Future cancels Nevada factory

Faraday Future has canceled plans to build a massive factory on the outskirts of Las Vegas, Nevada. It sent the state a $16,200 check to refund the incentives it received. The electric car startup is focusing on a new facility in California.   http://bit.ly/2fqeRWu

Toyota won't use Gazoo name in America

High-performance Toyota products wear the Gazoo name in overseas markets like Japan. Don't expect to see a Gazoo-badged Prius in the United States, however. Automotive News reports most of the brand's American executives hate the name, so Toyota Racing Development (TRD) will stick around in the foreseeable future.

Twin-turbocharged Ford Bronco headed to SEMA

Vaccar and WD-40 have teamed up to build a custom 1966 Ford Bronco. It gets a yellow and blue paint job, a black hard top, aftermarket wheels wrapped by off-road tires, and blacked-out headlights. It's also got a modern twin-turbocharged EcoBoost engine, though performance specifications haven't been published yet. The custom Bronco will be on display at SEMA this year, and it will head to auction after the show.

Watch a Tesla S beat supercars in a drag race

Motor Trend rounded up some of the world's greatest performance cars and organized a drag race at Vandenberg Air Force base in California. The roster included the Lexus LC500, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, and the Mercedes-AMG GT R.
