BMW has announced pricing for the all-new 640i Gran Coupe. In the United States, the entry-level version of BMW’s Mercedes CLS rival will start at $76,895 including destination and handling.

That makes the four-door 640i Gran Coupe slightly more expensive than the two-door 640i, which lists from $74,495. Its also a departure from the typical automotive practice of pricing a sedan more modestly than its coupe sibling.

While the 640i will be the first Gran Coupe on the scene early this summer, it will be joined by the 650i and the all-wheel-drive 650i xDrive by the end of the summer. The 640i Gran Coupe will feature BMW’s single-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six with 315 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque, while 650i Gran Coupe models get a 445 horsepower, 480 lb-ft of torque twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8.

The 6-Series Gran Coupe will make its global debut at the Geneva International Auto Show in March and its North American premiere at the New York International Auto Show in early April, though it will also get a U.S. preview at the Concours d’Elegance in Amelia Island, Florida.

Look for pricing for the 650i models to be announced closer to their late summer launch date.
