9ff Convertible sets drop-top speed record

11/23/2006, 2:22 PM

By admin

The Porsche 911-based 9ff Convertible has set a world record for the highest top speed achieved by a convertible, the tuner announced today. The 780 horsepower 911 is capable of hitting 300km/h or 188 mph in just 11 seconds.

At a special event held by Continental and Auto Bild, the 9ff Convertible managed to hit 380 km/h or 238 mph — an apparent world record for a convertible sports car. Gallery after the jump…

^ damn right!!! And I read somewhere that the top speed was achieved at only 25% throttle. They said that if the driver floored it, it could probably reach speeds of 325.2mph!!! Crazzzzyyyyyy shiiieet.

Hair dryer????

When was the last time you saw a 911 driven by a man with his own hair???

Porsche should be a German slang for ‘toupees’…

For this 911, they would need the one with sewn-n-grown-in snaps…

^ why C4? You must mean C2S. S’ have 3.8L of displacement versus 3.6 on regular Carrera models(325hp

There ain’t no f’ing way it will hit 188 mph in 11 seconds. The VEYRON takes 16.7 seconds to reach that speed. If it took only 11 seconds, it is comparable to the weineck-cobra-780cui-limited-edition and it also means it can do 0-124 mph in 5-6 seconds, and no, that 9ff CAN’T.
Someone said it could reach a top speed of 325 MPH. Again, that’s f’ing nonsense.

By the size of those Hips I would guess that this indeed a Carrera 4, the article doesn’t specify wether it is indeed a carrera 4S. that is amazing either way. with the 3.6 liter engine that would be 216.6 horsepower per liter. Beast.

deantj, you obviously have some issues with your manliness, or lack thereof, because of which you resort to amazingly trite insults and lots of hot air. I sense lots of deep-seated hatred and no self-esteem. Did I unknowingly steal your wife or something? BTW, you idiot, straight-line performance has nothing to do with the heritage of the company or the car/engine. That’s just common sense. If you can’t even think along those lines, you are a waste.
