Saab confirms small crossover project

10/14/2005, 10:22 AM

By mkbhatia

The Subaru-based Saab 9-6X crossover may be dead, but the company is reportedly working on another, small crossover called the 9-4X. The car will likely share its underpinnings and powertrains with the upcoming Cadillac BRX, much as the Cadillac BLS, which will be launched next spring, shares its platform with the Saab 9-3. It is thought that the 9-4X will be better-suited to the European market than the huge, seven-seater 9-6X. With an increased interest in small vehicles in North America, the 9-4X may do better than the 9-6X ever could have.
