BMW’s new 3-Series convertible will go on sale in the United States in 18 months, while the coupe should be on sale next fall, according to a report published by Edmunds, citing a BMW spokesman. It was unclear if the convertible will be sold as a 2007 or 2008 model — a vehicle released midyear could go either way. The spokesman would not say if the new convertible would feature a folding hardtop, but this has been virtually confirmed by recent reports. The spokesman also would not comment on recent spy shots and renderings, but admitted he had seen them.
