The latest rumors out of Lexus suggest the company will launch a concept version of the IS convertible at the 2006 Detroit Motor Show. Insiders say that it could feature a retractable hard-top, which will pitch the car against coupe-cabriolets such as the new Volvo C70, and possibly the forthcoming BMW 3-series convertible. Recently, we reported Lexus would show a successor to the U.S.-designed LF-C concept at the Detroit auto show. It’s unclear if both these rumors refer to the same vehicle. Another IS derivative which will be unveiled, according to Wheels 24, is the IS500, which is to take aim at hot sports sedans such as the BMW M3 and Mercedes C55 AMG.
