Audi will expand its A4 line to include an A5 coupe and cabriolet for the 2008 model year, according to Automobile Magazine. The A5 cabrio will sport a cloth top, which Audi chief Martin Winterkorn maintains is better suited to the brand’s image than a retractable metal roof. Winterkorn’s sentiment is apparently shared by others in the auto world, including BMW, who chose to make the up-market 6-series convertible a ragtop. The new A4 and its two-door A5 sibling will be more aggressively styled, with taut, slab-sided sheetmetal, broad shoulders, and a more prominent version of the new grille. A stiffer platform with better steering, weight distribution, and a rear-biased torque split will spearhead Audi’s attempt to take on the 3-series. A5 rendering courtesy Auto Bild.

Nice!(RS5)
Good move… mostly. The pic looks great! Though I’m not sure why we need to develop more models instead of focusing on issues like alternative fuels, reducing waste, upgrading efficiency, etc. these days.
Then again, when the Al2 comes to america, I will stop my negative comments and get one. The one I saw in Monaco in 1999 was incredible.
