A Christmas wish: Jaguar reveals XJL Supercharged Neiman Marcus Edition

10/06/2009, 4:59 PM

By Andrew Ganz

Every fall, a handful of wealthy Americans wait with anticipation for luxury retailer Neiman Marcus to announce the special-edition vehicle that will be launched in its annual Christmas Book. For those lucky few, the 2009 holiday item will be a $105,000, limited-edition long-wheelbase 2010 XJL sedan.

Just 50 of the supercharged sedans will be made available. Each features a unique Celestial Black metallic exterior with a navy and ivory leather-trimmed interior. Special edition 20-inch alloy wheels, illuminated sill plates, a trunk finisher and badging set the Neiman Marcus edition apart. The car also comes with a full matching set of navy blue luggage that was custom-tailored to fit in the XJL’s trunk.

Jaguar says that the XJL marks the third Jaguar selection for the Neiman Marcus Christmas book; in 1969, an XKE Grand Touring coupe was on offer, and in 1997, an XK8 convertible was available.

Neiman Marcus editions don’t typically last long before they are sold out, so if you’re interested, make sure to mark your calendar for noon EDT on October 16 to call 1-866-524-6963 to reserve yours.

I think I’d rather have a Corvette ZR1 for the money.

Celestial Black Metallic: Congrats, 50 of you are overpaying to make the C-pillars look less dumb.

I suspect most of the 50 will be buying it for the luggage…

Rich people make me sick… They’re going to blow their cash on this and STILL hold up the line at the grocery store complaining about their coupons not being accepted…

I was thinking about picking up a ‘98 Ford Explorer eddie bauer, but I dig Neiman Marcus too…. I’ve got a tough decision to make.

If someone were to buy one of these I would think you would want to get a driver so you could enjoy the extra room in the back and relax. At the same time though, if you had enough money to have someone drive you around you could afford and want to buy a higher end car than a jaguar. just a thought

I’m guessing the “trunk finisher” is a chrome strip connecting the taillights that should have been included on all the new XJs? Because the trunk on the ones I’ve seen looks extremely unfinished!

A better looking car, and a much better “value” than last year’s $140,000 BMW 750Li.
